UPDATE:  Lott resigned from the Senate on December 31, 2007, to become a lobbyist in partnership with former Louisiana Democratic Senator John Breaux.   Lott should easily be able to earn seven figures in  his new vocation.

ORIGINAL COMMENT:  I think he was a good leader and got the shaft. His so-called friends threw him to the wolves for an incident where he was trying to administer some Southern hospitality to a man, who, like him or not, was a large figure in American political history.

Deserves another chance, It was wrong what he said, I take him at his word he was just trying to be nice to Strom and I think he was screwed over.

He got screwed over, bad, apparently by Republican insiders who wanted his job. In real-life he's been one of the historical leaders in the Republican Party on civil rights issues.
