 | edt4 (103) 06/02/2008 | It seemed so at the time, but looking back now, what actor from MASH has really achieved "greatness"? Alan Alda has worked pretty steadily since then, but who else? Gary Burghoff? Wayne Rogers (he "starred" in one or 2 TV movies after leaving the series and then abandoned whatever pretensions of an acting career he had nursed and now he's some sort of financial advisor on FOX)? Loretta Swit? Jamie Farr? Stevenson was good in the series, and the episode where he left for home and died in a crash was actually one of the stronger, more effective ones.

 | Molfan (58) 10/03/2005 | He seemed to have his career go down hill after his MASH leave. He should have stayed on longer. I guess he wanted a show where he could be the star. Hello Larry was pretty bad. He was so good in MASH too. He could not have gone back if he wanted to since his character was killed Off in the same episode he left.

 | StanUzbeck (14) 01/18/2004 | McLean Stevenson really had no choice but to leave MASH. Everyone on the set hated him. He was so despised by the rest of the cast and crew that they wrote him out of the show in a way that ensured that his character would never be able to come back for any reason. I don't understand why, because I don't know what kind of person he was. Maybe it was his personality that made sure he didn't get a lot of work afterward.

 | President -X-D (6) 08/28/2003 | He really shot himself in the foot on this one. I wonder what MASH would have become had he stayed though. Would he have fit in with the later years of MASH, which had become a different show altogether?

 | CastleBee (83) 08/26/2003 | This guy was a pretty good actor but by the time he did this show he was deep into middle age. You have to wonder what he thought was waiting for him beyond the MASH set.
