Don't pass up the chance to see what you can do with your life. There are a lot of jobs in the world and college is a great place to investigate them. Don't have a set major, try lots of different stuff that interests you. Well worth the money if you have the drive to work hard and complete it.

It has its problems. A four year degree is taking six to get anymore with students having to work, increasing demands from dumbass degree holders who want to thin the herd so their job is safe, and classes being full to the gills with nitwits who are never going to finish their degree. Dorms? Forget it. A Marine barracks is bad enough, I don't want to live around any more morons, especially ones that I have no power to beat on when they act up. Still, you can't get alot of jobs without some silly piece of paper, so I'll keep taking class and getting A's until they decide I've taken enough.

deep down, i have always wondered what it would have been like to attend a state university as opposed to a private one. U of whatever state students seem to have more fun and take better advantage of the college experience and take more pride in their school, rather than just the academic aspect of college. But deep down, I and the rest of the private university students and alumni know, we are a little smarter lol. But we aren't quite up there with the Ivy Leaguers. Ivy League, why isn't that an option on this list?

Recent college grads, their majors and their jobs: History: Blockbuster Video Sales Associate Chemistry (from one of the top chem universities in the nation): Borders Books Sales Associate History: Hollister Sales Associate Biology (again. one of the top bio universities in the nation): grocery store cashier. With today's job market, college doesn't do what so many think it will. On the other hand, college is a great place to learn and grow.

Not for me. There are too many credit requirements for subjects I have no interest in. I suffered through 12 years of grade school re-learning the same things over and over again, and I'm sure not going to go through the same torture in college. Not to mention that a large portion of the professors are Liberals, Communists, or even (here in the USF area) terrorists.

This was my chosen path, but it isn't necessarily good for everyone. It depends on what you want to do with your life, and how much you're willing to put into it. Some people are perfectly happy to work in a garage right out of college and stay there for the rest of their lives. Most people think there's something wrong with that, but really, there isn't. High school pressures students, making many believe that college is the ONLY choice, other than failure, that college is the end-all most important thing in life. It's not. True, you're more LIKELY to get a higher-paying job after attaining a college degree, and it's true that there are some jobs that REQUIRE Ph.D.'s at a minimum. But it's not the answer for everyone. If you choose to go to college, it's a good idea to do some research (I happened to pick one with a pretty good reputation, but I found that the students' needs were placed last in the priority list there. Go figure). Also, it's a good thing to think that, even after college, you may want to take more specialized training for your field in other schools. Whatever path you choose, pick the one that'll make you the happiest.
