The Mexican-born Carlos Santana created a unique fusion of Latin music and mainstream rock n roll that has kept him one of the most respected guitarists for nearly four decades. His rise in fame in the 60's coincided with the lengendary Woodstock festival. Since then, his band has scored 9 platinum-selling albums, while 14 others are certified gold. Many additional creative achievements have come from Carlos laying down guitar work for the benefit of other artists. Fittingly, many popular artists have paid him back in recent years through collaborations that put the spotlight back on Carlos's distinctive talents. 1999's Supernatural CD went 14 times platinum and featured the number one hits Smooth and Maria, Maria. Eight Grammy awards were collected for this effort, including Album of the Year. The durability of his talents and large body of innovative, appealing work make him an easy five star rock guitarist.
