I recently got Independent Forged 129mm and they are great! The baseplate is stamped with "forged and an independent cross and Roman numeral 10. Probably carving out some weight. Forging the trucks instead of casting them makes what is an already strong truck; stronger and lighter. I noticed when I was riding Venture lows my flips were to fast and I wanted to slow them down a bit and I found the perfect balance riding independents.

Personally i don't like indies. I dont like the pivot cup thiingy on the bottom of the truck. and i dont like the way they turn at all. way to sharp for my liking.

Indys are THE best trucks out there simply because they are verrry durable have very good turning and have a lot of pop. a bit on the heavy side and not as smooth as thunders when grinding but will last you a hell of a lot longer and in my opinion look cooler than thunders
talltitanmc 04/26/2009
Insanesuper stronggreat turninglittle heavy though
Crailtapboards 4ever 02/25/2009
Strongest truck ever!but pretty heavy,I`ve had then for a year and a half now,I think they`ll snap any day now, but thats along time still!I tried tensor magnisium lights, they were good for like 3 monthsthen craked the axle, and then broke the kingpin the same day.Get indys if you don`t mind the extra weightor thunders :D

I am a sponsered skater an i have ridden my share of trucks in the past. My buddies and me did a couple tests recently between indys and thunders (the 2 most popular street trucks on the market). Indys tend to way a touch more when your holding it but while your ridding the 2 you cant notice the slightest diference. Turning, indy definatly has much more ability for sharp and hard turns but thunder slide much more smooth and efficiently. Overall i woulld recomend either depending on what you ride. Both teams consist of huge names ... Independent: Muska, reynolds, smith, sheckler, worrest, haslam ect.Thunder:Romero, herman, appleyard, dompierre, thomas, ramondetta, busenitz ect. Wich all of theses riders preform on huge obsticles and compete in competitions were they need top of the line equiptment...what more do i need to say.Either of wich trucks you chose "highs" are definatly the way to go they are a bit heavier but your getting more pop (plus each year they make their trucks lighter)

I'm a vert skater, so these trucks are the best for me. they have a sharper turning radius than any other truck I've skated, they don't wear down too fast since the metal is nice and hard like it should be, and they look nice. with vert skating weight isn't a problem, so that doesn't matter to me since I'm not flipping my board. the only flaw i see in them is the way the king pin and hangar is set up. after grinding a lit you'll notice that your king pin nut gets grinded down too, and you don't notice it until it's really bad since you never get "smooth" grinds with pool coping, so you wouldn't feel a difference weather the nut was being grinded or not.

heaviest trucks but there strong not much else
isk8incircles 11/15/2008
the most well rounded truck. they are durable but they are heavier, not the best in tech/street which i what i like.
blahtblaht 11/07/2008
Solid trucks, they do weigh a little bit more but once you become a man it doesn't matter, lol. I'll skate independent trucks till i die and their clothing is great too. http://www.utilityboardsupply.com/get_list_147 .htm

mhi 03/18/2008
When I re-entered skating, Independent was the only name I recognized.I am a heavier skater so for pool and transition, this is not a bad truck...the only thing is I like street and technical skating and many brands are better for that style.I had really high expectations of my Independent Stage 9s but I wasn't totally bummed out since they do turn very easily.Overall, this is an average truck compared to my Thunders and Tensors. I give Independent Stage 9 three stars.
TimRules3 03/04/2008
Independent stage 9 lows are great
TtownSK8 10/15/2007
I can't vouch for the new Stage 9's, but I have had great success with the Stage 8's in the past. When I first started skating (early 90's) and rode my friend's Indys, I was struck with 3 automatic responses: 1) they seem much heavier (compared with softer/non heat-treated trucks-i.e. Grind King, Destructo, Tensor) 2) turn incredibly smooth (much better than the squeeky/sticking I had with GK's) and 3) grind like a bullet train and last LONG. Every since then, I've been riding Independents and have grown very attached to their no-frills performance and value pricing. Though, in times, it's difficult to not to want to wander towards the other companys that prmote their merch with "new advanced technology" or the ones with "trendy" paint schemes, though I think this really affects newer/younger kids. ~I really don't want my trucks looking like they're wearing a cardigan sweater anyway (Krux)!~ But now, while investigating a new complete, I'm at a cross roads between Indys and Tensors. Their website goes on and on about how they are making all the others, as well as the OG of the truck market (Indy), put out to pasture due to their falling behind in tech. My intrests in Tensor include: their lower kingpin (less hangups), lighter design (though not overly important), nibbed baseplate (maintain proper alignment after bolts loosen) and their non-slip axles (bad now on my old stage 8's). So while they look cool and different from the old Indy staple, I'm just left to ponder whether or not a TECH-street oriented truck will do me any justice. *I think the old saying may be true for the Tensors," The light that bruns twice as bright, lasts half as long", and it'll be hard to deviate from whats tried and true for me. BOTTOM LINE- The Stage 9's are just slightly bulked and lightened grassroot work horses; the industry standard.
S1LVERTRUCKS 08/26/2007
dont get these. they have no protections. if u want to grind with these (duh) get tensor, silvers, or krux III's
ygtfg 08/26/2007
REYNOLDSII 08/22/2007
they last long if youre under80 pounds.good luck get thunders or tensor too they are great!
THEBOSS 08/16/2007
everyone says there a bit heavy, heavy, ya on the heavy side. you know what ya! they are. but they got just enough wax for a perfect 5-0. i mean there isnt anything fancy abut these, there just plain coloured silver normal decent truck. what more could you want? i mean "once you start riding them theres no turning back." andrew reynolds
stickpoop 06/28/2007
pretty heavy,u get hung up ALOT on rails
zachwar 04/25/2007
independents are great. there really not even that heavy and the new stage 9's are made even lighter. there just an all around great truck!
meeeeeee 04/20/2007
In 15 years of skating I have always advocated independent trucks. Within the last year I experienced my first unexpected failure (the metal bent right behind the wheel) and the company which claims "Independent Trucks are GUARANTEED FOR LIFE" has so far ignored my requests for them to honour that agreement!!! >:(

THESE SUCK
danny667 04/18/2007
what can i say????? best trucks ever. heavy, but brilliant.
Leemonster 03/30/2007
Compared to the other trucks i've ridden..Indys have functioned the best and i've only had a few problems with them which was the pins sticking a certain direction from ollieing off high stuff.. but you just put lots of pressure on them to fix that. The weight is only a small problem, which is made up for by the durability of the trucks. Recently I swithed to Tensors to test them out, and they suck compared to Indys.
madskata77 03/24/2007
these truck suck so bad that i had to barf at the skate shop on the guy
chuless 12/15/2006
These trucks are great accept if you are to try bigger things such as stairs over 5 then the king pins seem to get loose adn break often. the king pins last about 3 months and then they start getting loose and the base plate wears out from replacing kingpins often. but the good thing is that king pins are cheap and heavy trucks give you better control. i would give these 4.2 over all rating.
Skaterrater19 09/15/2006
great, a little heavy though

im usually not one to take a stand against other peoples personal opinions but tophatman,u probably never rode indys before, those are the best trucks i have ever ridden and who are you to label such a good product a poser brand
Fiberlightskat er 08/30/2004
awsome there sort of heavy but unless u suck the weight doesnt matter.
xtremesk8ter 08/02/2004
Indy's are the best on the market and now they are lighter than ever. The kingpins are unbreakable and they weigh about 1 and a half pounds. I just got my stage 9s 129 for my girl deck. I got the silver ones because they're lighter than the colored ones.
tophatman 06/23/2004
too heavy there a poser brand
Fu_Q 05/19/2003
TOO HEAVY
kheetar 05/05/2003
I had a pair of indy's on my last board. Their best asset is how they turn. They are rather heavy, and if you tighten them too much the bolt will get in the way during grinds. I think I landed funny on the board too many times and bent the trucks, they always seemed to lean to one side. Perhaps new bushings would fix this. These trucks are a good choice.
