 | frenchiefastwaves (2) 01/27/2008 | Who could ever enjoy Marco island? Come on... Are you kidding me? This bourgeois hole has to be one of the most depressing places I have ever been too. Developpers dredged the crap out of this wilderness paradise and now, guess what? Just one big ugly resort after another fill up the shoreline so any chance to see the beauty of this area is long gone...Oh yeah, there are 2 public beach parking lots that will cost 6 $ to just get out of your car...Better go somewhere else!

 | Marlane (3) 07/03/2006 | Very beautiful and VERY snooty. Bring money! At least you've a chance of parking yourself and your car at the beach because the lots are staggered along the long stretch of beach and not just isolated at one spot.

 | abichara (62) 06/06/2006 | Naples and Marco are both very relaxed places. The beaches are good, although I agree with Vudija that the water is sometimes dirty and the sand didn't have a great texture. The water there in the summer is also way too warm. Last summer, the water temp was 93 degrees! With the lack of waves in the Gulf, it sometimes feels like you're swimming in stagnant bath water. But overall, the area is a nice place for a vacation. There are better beaches in FL though.

 | Donovan (132) 04/26/2006 | Very nice! My parents spend a lot of time in Naples. I grew up in Venice which is just north. As an adult I lived years in Sarasota which is a great city and has beautiful beaches. Naples is not as crowded and that in itself is very attractive.

 | Vudija (94) 04/26/2006 | Magellan when did you see Tigertail last? The last time I was there, they had a SERIOUS algae and bacteria issue in the water. The water was dirty, the bottom of the beach was slimy, rather than sandy, and it's still over-crowded even with all of the issues that they publicly announce every spring and summertime. I have yet to hear it this year, so maybe they've finally done something about it...

 | magellan (160) 04/19/2004 | Marco Island is gorgeous - very quiet, chill, and calm. If you ever get a chance to get there, make sure to check out Tigertail Beach - it's a public beach, and is about the prettiest beach I've ever been to. Don't try and sleep on the beach and light a campfire, however. The fire department will come quickly.

 | zuchinibut (37) 09/01/2003 | My visit to Marco Island was great, but I was a little disappointed by the lack of waves there. It is on the Gulf side of the state, and felt more like a lake than the Ocean to me.
