This guy is Canada's Harry Truman (in that he had a knack for the aphorism) without a third the talent. Handed what was then the biggest majority government in Canadian history, Diefenbaker was generally inept, combining a dull and unimaginative domestic policy with a ludicrous foreign policy. His ego was so overwhelming that his party had to tear itself apart to get rid of him.

One of the very best, soon to be over taken by our present PM Harper.

A combative prairie populist who succeeded in giving voice to regional concerns that were overlooked by the Ontario-Quebec power elite of the era. But he did not leave behind any major legacy accomplishments, instead is remembered for his battles with the Establishment.

Dief the Chief was full of it but fun to watch. He got caught in the end of the 1950's recession and that ruined his government. Canada could use a politician like him today.

This is the man that STOPPED the Avro Arrow program!!!! The only reason why Canada today relies on (or use to) F-104s and F/A-18s is because of this man. This is just the start of a long list of things that have brought about the downfall of the Canadian Armed Forces. Diefenbaker said goodbye to all of is great Aerospace scientists, and NASA, Boeing, Lockhead, Hawker, etc. said hello. I gave him a two because of what he did with the Canadian Bill of Rights, but that is all. I love our military, and I hate John Diefenbaker because of it. If JTF2 existed back then, he probable would have cancelled it.
