I agree, lacked the vision, and almost crippled the addition of British Columbia by stopping production of the Canadian Pacific Railway. (There was a time frame that British Columbia was saying that the railway had to be finished in, or else they would not join Canada, and the MacDonald government knew that it would have to be done, so he got to work. But, Mackenzie refused to send people to work on it, almost screwing up the plan. MacDonald then got back into office and finished what he had started.)

Came to power in the wake of one of the MacDonald government's scandals that proved a little too brazen and unpalatable. Wasn't much better, and lacked MacDonald's vision.
