Washington is actually paraphrasing Marcus Aurelius, but who's counting. And to comment on other reviews: While preparing for war may or may not have led to WWI, it is clear that not preparing for war led to WWII.

WW1 may have been caused by preparing for war, but each country did not want another country to beat them to it and beat them in the ultimate diplomatic arena - war, oh and it helped me cmlete my essay blaming Russia for the war
