There are really 2 types of workers. Can do's and No can do's. Truman was definitely Can Do. Words for everyone with responsibility to live by.

The buck stops here is many times attributed to Harry Truman, but he didn't say it originally. It was a sign that he had on his desk for a short time during his presidency. Nonetheless, it's very good advice for all of us. We must always take responsibility to for our own actions. There's no need to pass the buck around. In many ways that represented Truman leadership style, whenever he made a mistake, he didn't put the blame on his cabinet. He was always man enough to take it and that's a true sign of leadership. It isn't saying pretty words like JFK did, it's based on action and character.

This is a very important quote for any future President to remember. Ultimately, it is the President of the United States that must claim responsibility for the activities of the Executive Branch of government, the intelligence community and the United States military. All too often, the blame is placed on subordinates and the President slips by. I really think they need to put that sign back in the Oval Office: The buck stops here.

Well, it does. And Harry was pretty good at dealing with it when it got there.
