Even Peter Sellers' retarded character, Chauncey Gardener, in Polanski's "Being There," accidentally becoming president, exhibited more originality, compassion and curiosity than this poor excuse for a human being--but then again, he IS a Yale grad, and they seem to be challenged in this aspect of being human.
I wish there were some way we could bill the bastard for every life--Iraqi, Afghani and American--killed in pursuit of the salve to the wound in his ego.

A totally worthless President.
chappellefan 05/26/2005
While his heart seems to be in the right place, his people are pushing him in all the wrong directions. 9/11 was the best thing that ever happened to him, and his incursion into Iraq is the karma he deserves. 08 can't get here soon enough.
luridlloyd 05/12/2005
I can't approve of much, but I'm afraid if W. gets too low of a rating here Tom Ridge will raise the terror threat to Orange or higher. Although, this hasn't happened much now that the election is over.
Jar-Jar Binks 04/09/2005
I never liked the guy the first time I ever laid by eyes on him. He disgusts me. His administration totally reflects on his arrogance. I can't wait until 4 years when he will go down as the worst modern president in our country's history.

Absolutely the worst president in my 40-year lifetime (even worse than Nixon), if not ever. This man claims he is Christian and compassionate yet his policy is one of arrogant war mongering, hubris, and total unconcern for those struggling and oppressed. His tax cuts have destroyed the economy and benefited the wealthy. Even rich people like Warren Buffet have questioned his financial policy and said it is reckless. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm an evangelical Christian who is totally appalled by this man's arrogant, pompous, self-righteous leadership. In the 2004 Presidential debates he would not admit error--this is not the character of a righteous man. But pride seems to be a popular American theme. I live near Canada where I get an outside perspective, and every Canadian I've talked to sees him in the same light. I would give Bush a zero if I could. My children and grandchildren will be paying for this man's mistakes long after he's gone.

That this man has been re-elected has nearly killed my last bit of faith in this country. How can nearly half our country be so blind to what he is doing? He dragged us into a completely innapropriate war, misleading us to think that there were WMD when there were none. Sure, he liberated Iraq. You know what else happened in his war? Thousands died: over 1000 of our own, and over FIFTEEN THOUSAND Iraqis, nearly 70% of them civiallians. Seven thousand Americans have been wounded. Uncountable numbers of soldiers have become dissatisfied and disillusioned with a homeland that puts them in harms way unnecessarily. No WMDs were found. The 9/11 Commission turned up no link between Iraq and the attacks on the World Trade Center. Where did this idea come from? Donald Rumsfeld has been pushing the President to bomb Iraq since the attacks happened. Rather than pursuing Osama bin Laden (who is still uncaptured), troops, money, and intelligence resources were diverted to Iraq, essentially abandoning Afghanistan's new government to fend for itself. This has had the result of not only weakening relationships with our Allies, but it has strengthened our enemies. Al Qaeda has never found it easier to recruit members. It's estimated that there are now 18,000 active members in this terrorist network. We were initially told that this war in Iraq would cost $50 billion. But we have already spent TRIPLE that amount. It could go as high as 6 times the original estimate, to 300 billion dollars. Even with this massive budget, less than $1 billion was spent on the search for WMDs. President Bush was handed a recovering national economy and a budget surplus, and turned it into one of the worst in our nation's history. We have hit a record $7.3 trillion low. That's 30% worse than when Bush took office 4 year ago. All this debt is incurring massive amounts interest, which will have to be paid off over the next decades, by our children. By the year 2009, the interest payments will cost more than homeland security, education, transportation, justice and environment budgets combined. We've lost nearly a million jobs, making Bush's administration the only one since the 1930s to lose rather than gain jobs. President Bush promised his 2003 tax cuts would create jobs, but they have produced 2.7 million fewer jobs than his administration had predicted, not enough to keep up with the people entering the work force each month. On President Bush's watch, the number of Americans who say they are working part-time because they can't find full-time jobs has increased 35%. As if the war and the failing economy isn't bad enough, Bush doesn't give a crap about the environmet. 1 in 3 Americans breathe polluted air, leading to 200 deaths a day. Yet the Bush administration's Clear Skies Act would repeal key parts of the Clean Air Act and allowmore pollution from coal-fired plants. It is unbelievable that some people will dismiss things like this and vote for Bush because they claim he has better moral values. I don't think he has any.

Why do Christians allow him to cherry-pick the Bible?* * Why do Liberals insist on cherry-picking civil rights, morals, and Freedom of Speech?

A very bad president. If you support him so much, go fight in his stupid war.

To answer scoopie's claims that GoneAway did not smite already with the word of God, I will not stand behind Bush completely, saying that he's the greatest president of all time and liberator of millions...etc. I WILL say that he has done a pretty good job of adapting to a diffacult situation. Also, I am no economy student, but I think DJIA going from 7800 to 10,500 since 911 is pretty good. Plus, these things take time. You can't expect the economy to rebound overnight. Bush Senior's economy didn't start turning around until the Clinton administration and he got credit for getting rid of the deficit. As for his forign policy, American security is the highest priority, not international popularity. September 11 made it clear that the U.S. isn't as safe as it used to be and I think Bush is catching way to much flack for trying to make it safer. These radical Muslims tried to bomb the world trade center once, nocked out a few pillars, killed a few people, no harm done. Then, they bomb our embassies in Africa, blow a hole in one of our warships, and kill 3000 people in New York. Who knows what they were capible of if we had not crippled them. SOMETHING HAD TO BE DONE. What's right, in this case is not popular.
scoopie 11/27/2004
I would give him negative stars if I could. Why do Christians allow him to cherry-pick the Bible? Abortion isn't even mentioned, but starting wars and the death penalty is - and Jesus was against both. Worst economy for workers. Taking away our safeguards. Imbicle who can't string two sentences together. Listen, you people who like him call us who don't kool-aid drinkers - tis you who are. You don't have a clue how evil this man is! I wish you'd broaden your horizons and watch something besides Fox News and listen to something other than Rush. You can still do that, but listen to the other side, too. He's destroying this country and putting us on a fast track to destruction. Repeat after me: Iraq did not attack us. There are no weapons of mass destruction. bin Laden is still alive and we have no allies left.
EschewObfuscat ion 11/24/2004
I really shouldn't read the comments from leftie kool-aid drinkers like noscaj, waynethetrain, djahuti and budcat, it really undermines my faith in our youth. Solemnly, religiously regurgitating the liberal party line takes no particular skill (and fortunately for these robots, no thought) but does indicate the brainwashing that takes place in their sector of US culture. Bill Clinton was a foreign policy moron who attempted to broker peace in the Middle East without benefit of a plan. Or a clue. Bush has initiated a new strategy for combatting the terrorists which every president since Nixon has ignored, in the hope that they would not do anything to so infuriate the American people as to force the US President to deal with them. They were enormously strengthened during the eight years Clinton oversaw US foreign policy, with such incredible weaklings as Warren Christopher, Anthony Lake and Madeleine Albright. When 9/11/01 happened, the world changed, in case some of you lightweights missed it, and the Afghan War, the Iraq War, the Patriot Act and many other initiatives became necessary. Bush won reelection, sorry to break it to you, and when an American President wins more than 50% of the popular vote, something Bill Clinton never did, he has a mandate to continue the work he has started. Here's some advice, why not wait until you have something resembling an outcome to evaluate before you criticize the War in Iraq? Until then, consider supporting, truly supporting, the men and women who are putting their lives on the line to protect the freedom of such an unappreciative country, in which they so unflinchingly believe.
noskcaj 11/24/2004
Childishly? Bush has proven to be childish. The faces he made in the first debate showed like his father he thought he was above even being there. When Governor of Texas a reporter asked him about an execution and Bush mocked the women that was to be executed by making faces and fake crying. I don't care that they fried her but how about a little maturity about a serious matter. I am half his age and know you don't go around mocking people about to die who claim they are sorry and have found Christ. What the hell was the point? Not very Governor like. More like Beavis and Butthead. On the war, 1229 dead in what was suppose to be the invasion of a nation with WMDs because of WMDs. Now this president says that was always secondary and it was about freeing the Iraqi people. Was it? No! Lied, remember lied? Bill Clinton. That was about sex and this is about why 1229 people died. This President took his eye off the ball. Instead of looking for bin laden he decided to settle his dad's old scores. Wasted money, wasted men and wasted time that should have been spent looking for bin laden. On the good side he is against overtime, minimum wage, fiscal responsibility, or being able to sue a doctor if they cut something off they should not have. Oh and is also for bringing millions of Mexicans into the country and doing away with away with the US-Mex border. It was about freeing Iraqis. Sure, great, let go free Cuba. Probably would not get more than 45 Americans killed and cost would be about 6 billion instead of 200 billion. Come on it is about freeing people.

At the risk of getting a record number of unhelpfuls, I believe George W. Bush is the right man, for the right job, at the right time. I know he's made his fair share of mistakes, but believe it or not people, soliders die in war, EVEN when a Democrat is in charge! It's important to stand by our president and not childishly attack him or slanderize him. You can disagree, but you shouldn't character assasinate him.
waynthetrain 10/21/2004
Has a direct open communication with the reigning power god (christian). How sad that the US claims freedom when it can only offer conformity. Open your brainwashed minds and you will see that Mongolia is a freer country based on freedom of speech alone!
Djahuti 10/20/2004
Dumber than a bag of hammers, and arrogant to boot!
Budcat 09/06/2004
Dangerously mentally myopic (fails to see the big picture), generally uninformed relying on tacit superficial knowledge and understanding instead of deeper insight. Tendency to blame others before looking for how own personal shortcomings have affected decisions he has made shows a severe lack of maturity and attendant ability to accrue wisdom.
Netplanet 05/07/2004
I think he sincerely does want to help America but he is in way over his head. Following in his father's footsteps he is not the most intelligent president. He is liked for the fact that he speaks firmly and with conviction. Unfortunately his actions don't support his words. 2 Wars, the loss of the most jobs in history, a terrible economic recession, the loss of respect of the entire world and 9/11 were on his watch. Are we better off than 4 years ago? Are we safer now than we were before? Are we better off than we were with Clinton? Is this country a better place? My answer is no, unfortunately

George W. Bush is the worst President of the United States ever. In a nutshell, he has managed to ruin the economy, putting millions of Americans out of work, restrict basic liberties outlined in the Bill of Rights, make a mess of foreign affairs, and lie, saying that Iraq possessed Weapons of Mass Destruction, in only one term! This must be a new record, maybe surpassing Reagan's. Have any Weapons of Mass Destruction been found? Do you feel safer due to his leadership after September 11? G. W. has appointed all his daddy's buddies to leading roles in the Cabinet, and has the richest one ever. For the full scoop on George W. Bush, see my ratings for him on foreign affairs, and on whether he is fit for reelection in 2004.
American1 12/16/2003
The most transformational leader since Theodore Roosevelt. Thank God he was in office September 11, 2001. But for his management skills and passion for justice and truth; we would all be in greater jeopardy.
