 | fitman (36) 04/29/2008 | Though I agree with him on most important issues, I must admit he's not very funny for a professional comedian.

 | Drummond (54) 12/28/2005 | Not sure why he's on this list. The conservatives who tried to slam Franken's Liars book came up empty, precisely because he'd researched it so well. His humor is deadpan, which is probably inaccessible to many who consume the modern laugh track telegraphed attempts at humor on modern primetime. Literacy is on the decline of late, so most people don't get irony.

 | yoyip2006 (0) 06/30/2005 | I like him and his shows, I do and I think he can be very funny but I don't take him seriously. He should be taken with a grain of salt. I wouldn't vote for him or anything.

 | James76255 (17) 06/20/2005 | A has-been comedian and failed actor decides he wants to become a political commentator. What's sad is some people actually listen to him.

 | ClassicTVFan47 (36) 06/20/2005 | How many people listen to his radio station? One and a half?

 | louiethe20th (74) 05/12/2005 | Not very seriously at all!The only thing he ever did that was funny was Stuart Smalley. His Air America is a flop and will go the way of the Dodo bird soon.

 | Jar-Jar Binks (16) 05/11/2005 | If he's considering running for office, then it's time to take a serious look at him. He's got the potential and he's quite intelligent in the political arena. He's great. Give him his props.

 | Mr.Political (18) 02/06/2005 | Franken, like much of liberal Hollywood, seems to be under the allusion that his experince as a half-wit comedy writer qualifies him to critique people who wouldn't (or shouldn't for that matter) give him the time of day if he wasn't so overrated. Like many left wingers, Franken is full of it...and loving it.

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 10/21/2004 | The big question: after Inauguration Day in January, 2005, how long will Air America survive? And what on earth will they discuss then? Maybe Franken could become a troll on RIA, he's eminently qualified.

 | Flick01 (71) 04/13/2004 | Mr Franken strikes me as a spoiled child who enjoys presenting his point of view in the nastiest possible manner. He and his defenders hide behind the shield of comedy satire but Mr Franken comes across as only marginally funny and name calling hardly qualifies as satire. His humor is abrasive and does not connect well with the average person. Some will argue George Carlin, but in my view there hasn't been a meaningful satirist since the late Lenny Bruce.

 | Bleh (0) 04/04/2004 | Franken is the kind of wanker who deserves wedgie and a wet finger across the glasses. Since when do two wrongs make a right? This guy is as obnoxious and insulting as the people he calls obnoxious and insulting. His lame satirist schtick isn't funny or original. While I find myself agreeing with his point of view more often than his opponents point of view its obvious to me that he lacks the ability to verbalize his point of view without resorting to juvenile finger waving. Got that? O'Reilly was onto something when he told him to sit down and shut up...which he did. Not that I like O'Reilly any better. Flip sides of the same coin.

 | abichara (60) 04/03/2004 | Al Franken does satire, big deal. All of these supposed political analysts have little personality cults revolving around them. The Ann Coulter's, the Bill O'Reilly's, the Rush Limbaugh's and yes the Al Franken's are entertainers. These people can be shrill, but no one should take their views seriously mostly because they build arguments around exagerration.

 | tvtator (5) 04/03/2004 | Uses humor effectively wisely and effectively to go after Republicans, conservatives who for years has been spewing crap. He's very witty. His book Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them was a hit because it was time someone uncovered the lies and twisted nonsense from the far right. It may have made some Republicans and conservatives uncomfortable and angry, but I really don't care. Franken does indeed do his research, he just uses humor to get his point across. As for his radio show being called The O'Franken Factor, I think it's a hilarious jab to Bill O'Reilly.

 | CastleBee (81) 04/03/2004 | He can't even come up with an original title for his radio show. The O'Franken Factor??? Give me a break. Speaks volumes about his talent as a writer/comedian or lack thereof. What a boring little whiner.

 | circumspect (0) 04/03/2004 | When I used to watch Franken on Saturday Night Live I wondered who got him the job as he appeared to be a humerous troll. His new program confirms his place in the Humorless, mindless, boring, fabricating Hall of Shame

 | resisobilus (0) 01/03/2004 | What, because he's a comedian, he can't be politically and socially savvy? He sees the way things are and tries to clue people in. Pay attention.

 | LadyShark4534 (12) 11/11/2003 | Al Franken is a SATIRIST! He is a comedian. You're not supposed to take him seriously.

 | Enkidu (37) 10/06/2003 | He's funny and he does his research well. His taste in humor is too sarcastic for me (sarcasm is the protest of the weak, for the most part) but his criticism of the Right is dead-on.

 | EnderX7 (0) 09/30/2003 | The fact that a liberal comedian can write a better book on politics than most conservative politicians is indicative of just how thin the Right's arguments really are. People accuse Franken of being too critical of his targets, but why should he go easy on people who are lying, self-serving money grubbers and power mongers? I think a friend of mine said it best: If I were a Republican, I'd be ashamed to show my face after reading this book. I read agree whole-heartedly, with one exception: If I were a Republican, I'd have been ashamed already.

 | Mr. Gone (0) 09/03/2003 | Al is nothing more than a vile little twit. He is the guy who was always taken last when choosing teams to play dodge ball in third grade, and is still pissed off about it. His attacks on Coulter and O'reilly are nothing more than that of a petty little man who fashions himself as some sort of subversive intellectual.
The problem is that Al is either too stupid or too lazy (or maybe both) to even see what a jack off he is. He sucked on SNL and since he hasn't been able to get another job since then, he's resorted to writing embarassingly idiotic books. Way to go Al!

 | TheFreak (3) 09/03/2003 | I love the man. He's hilarious, he's intelligent, he does his actual research before he writes things down, and Operation Chickenhawk is too great to pass up. The only people who would not find something they enjoy about him ware the ones with no understanding of the concept of irony and the ones with no discernable sense of humor. Even the conservatives, like Ollie North, Gordon Liddy, and the Washington Times enjoyed Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot. Kudos!!

 | If the shoe fits (1) 08/31/2003 | After finishing his latest endeavor, Lies, and the lying liars that tell them, I must admit I now see old Al in a brand new light. Though I'm no real fan of Ann Coulter, his attack on her in the first part of the book is unjust. If this is all it takes to be a writer, I've wasted the last 50 years. Al, you had your day on SNL, now shut up.
