His time in the Vice President's office was rather brief, as he was propelled to the Presidency following the assassination of President Garfield in 1881. He would go on to be a decent president.

He only served a few months as veep until he assumed the presidency. He was a good president, and didn't serve long enough as vp to make a record.

I like Chester Arthur because he surprised everyone by running an honest efficient administration, despite his shady past. When Garfield was shot and Arthur unexpectedly became president, he allowed his best self to rise to the occasion.
