This guy was Commie fellow traveler. The AFL made sure he was dumped in 1944 and Harry Truman substituted. Think what would have happened if you had a Communist Lover as President after World War II!

He served well as Vice President, traveling on several Goodwill tours of Latin America and the Far East. He withdrew his name from the ticket in 1944 in return for a cabinet appointment. He resigned from that appointment in 1946 due to his extreme disdain for Harry Truman's policies toward the Soviet Union.
