Steve Nash is so overrated. He did not deserve back to back MVP's awards and it's a shame because every player who has won the MVP has made it to the Hall so he back doors his way in even though he is so statistically deficient. The 2 years he won the MVP he only led the league in Assists and Assists Per Game in 2004-2005 and Assists, Assists Per Game and Free Throw % in 2005-2006. He shot 92% from the Free-Throw line and yet he only attempted 279 free-throws which was only good for 73rd in the league. For someone who always handles the rock, he sure doesn't get fouled alot. He flopped against Horry. Yes I said it. Flopped. Horry did the right thing by using the sideline as an extra defender and he still tried to run through the narrowest of creases. He fell, acted hurt and then jumped up. I thought Horry was going to get a yellow card for that. Nowhere near a Top 10 Point Guard. Get to the Finals and then make that argument. Dallas didn't need him to go. Kidd took New Jersey in back-to-back years. Stockton too and he lost to the greatest player ever. Parker has 2 titles and a Finals MVP and has great games against Nash. Heck, Baron Davis, Monta Ellis, Chris Paul, even Deron Williams outplay him head-to-head. People are you stupid, you think he's better than Magic? He doesn't play Defense. Just the 80's-90's alone had better PG's. 10. Maurice Cheeks 9. Tim Hardaway 8. Rod Strickland 7. Kevin Johnson 6. Terry Porter 5. Mark Jackson 4. Gary Payton 3. Isiah Thomas 2. John Stockton/Jason Kidd Tie 1. Magic Johnson He didn't play more than 60 games until his 5th year in the league. Joe Johnson's numbers are better without him. Marion will continue to get 20 and 10 in Miami like he did in Phoenix before him. Stats? He's not in the Top 10 of any major category. Please get off his nuts. Chris Paul is better than him now. Younger and does more with less...Hell, Chris Paul scored, 21, 28, 42 and 25 against him this year and swept him. Steve Trash as I like to call him. I brought hard stats to the table, challenge me on any of this, I dare you...

One of the best point guards in NBA history, right up there with John Stockton, Earvin Johnson, Bob Cousy, Tiny Archibald.

He makes you say WOW every game. Why would he even think about throwing those ally oops from where he does and he does it with absolute precision.

He has trophies, awards, and stats. . .if you rank him lower than 5 then it's a matter of emotion over reason. . .Nash is a flat-out great point guard. . .(Five for 'current' player. . .as an all-time rating, we should wait some time. . .)

Great, unselfish player, and huge fun to watch.

I saw him play some high-school ball and even then he showed promise of what was to come.

MVP voting is ridiculous. Nash wins two in a row, and then this year when he deserved it more than he did the last two, he doesn't win because Nash supposedly isn't good enough to win three in a row like Bird, Chamberlain, or Russell. In my opinion, Dirk was more deserving last year, and Nash this year.

So good that a crucial part of the Spurs gameplan is trying to injure him. (numbah throws a birdy at the Spurs AGAIN)

6/7/2005 - I think that Steve Nash proved during this year's playoff run why he was chosen as the NBA's MVP. Whether it was passing the ball, rebounding, or scoring, he did what it took to help his team win. They may still be playing if Joe Johnson hadn't been hurt, but the turnaround which he helped lead in Phoenix was impressive, and they have to be one of the frontrunners in the NBA again next season.

UPDATE: Nash just keeps on doing it. Not only did he lead the NBA in assists again, but he is one of the best shooters in the whole league. His Suns are looking good so far in the 2007 playoffs, and I would love to see them playing for a championship.

he is the best point guard ever. Those people that comment on nash not deserving the MVP, YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME. Look nash has more turnovers than anybody in the league because they get more possession, and he takes risks with his passing ability. Even flip saunders is amazed by this guys skills. I dare you to ask every coaches in the nba on who would they have as a guard, because they know they will recieve good and unselfish plays (which is what basketball is all about) i bet they would say it's steve nash. The guys got mad skills, and he just gets better as he age. and i agree with martixmarion, if you consider those passes by nash and the player gets fouled he has more assists than the stat sheet shows. the truth is they foul the guy, because he is so free that you have no other option than to foul, or i guess just give the dunk. Marion and and Stoudemire are way better when they play with nash. Oh and when nash was injured, phoenix suffered. He is consistent from a night on basis. Now tell me who's overrated?

How can you honestly say Steve Nash is overrated. Nash averages 19.3 ppg and 11.8 apg. That comes out to 43 points per game that Nash creates (plus the times he passes the ball and the player is fouled). When Nash plays the Suns are the best team in the NBA, when he doesnt play the Suns recore is below .500

Over rated. Great Player, but overrated. I like the guy, but he didn't deserve those MVP's. He's a system guy, playing the fast pace full court Suns offense. Those 2 MVP seasons he avged about 17 points and 10 assists. Considering how the Suns play, those 10 assists could be done by a number of point guards in the league to day. there were a few people that avged 26 points and 8 assists with less turnovers and more rebounds than nash. I'd take that anyday. They say he makes people around him great, that's true to some extent, but not as much as you think. The other players on the Suns were already great. after he was traded, the dallas mavs actually got better. Dirk got better. Steve is a great point guard, but not even close to being one of the best point guards in history. He's had only 3 good seasons out of a 10 year career. Guards like Magic, I. Thomas, and stockton were alot better and more consistant. Stockton, the weaker of those three avged 15 assists and 16 points for many seasons, but he was never even considered for the MVP. Nash is good, but overrated.

Suns without Steve Nash can lose to any team in the league. That's been seen time and again. With Nash, they can beat the best in the league. Amazing court vision, discipline, passing skills and that uncanny ability to create plays by getting his shooters good looks at the basket. Otherwise he drives all the way to the paint and lays it up. The BEST POINT GUARD ever! MVP 2006.

We Dallas Maverick fans miss Steve Nash in Dallas. He is the best pg in the league, he's not a great defender, but his court vision and his offense can't be beaten. He killed us in the playoffs last year! He is a great role model and an amazing athlete.

Best passer, free throw shooter, and among the best three point shooters in the NBA. The reigning MVP and he's having a better year this year than when he won it last year. Looks like he'll have a bookend for that trophy shelf. I've never seen Steve Nash play in a game when he wasn't the best player on the court. He's the "Larry Bird" from the great white north.

Yoou can say hes the best point guard if u want to but for me, i classify the best point guard by one-on-one!!!Nash has pretty good handles but is more of a team player which is a good thing but if he played guys like francis, iverson, baron, hed get crossed up and doont deny it!!!

U might want to nail me on this one!!This guy is great and what makes him soo great is thaat he can lead a team into the playoffs when hes scoring under 20 points a game! This guy doesnt need points to lead a team!!But i dont think that OVERALL, that hes the best point guard!! Hes definately one of the best but i think the best is prolly iverson or right now francis or wade according to 2004-2005!!But Nash did deserve to be MVP!!AND hes rated where he should be on this site!!He is NOT better than Francis, Wade , or iverson!!! Well right now currently Nash is slightly above Wade and I hope that changes. The numbers don't lie but like i SAID Nash deserved to be Leauge MVP and hes a great point guard but i still think he should get a four becasue he hasn;t shown me anything other than passing and shooting!!HELLO???Ever heard of defense?? And if your going to tell me hes too short to play good defense, look at iverson averagin 2 steals a game!!! louiethe20th!!!Iverson and francis both finished their seasons with a 20 ppg+ average. If their points per game average were to go down, then their assists per game average would obviously go up to 10 or higher a game!!! Assists=team ball!!!ENOUGH SAID!!!

This guy is God. He literally took a 20-some win team and transformed it into one of the, if not THE BEST team in the NBA! That's amazing. If he doesn't get MVP, the league is on crack. KG's MVP award last year was a joke; give it to Nash this year; it'll be in good hands.

Nash is having another outstanding year, this time in Phoenix. I always loved it when Dallas would play on TNT, and Charles Barkley would rail about how Michael Finley should be Dallas' go-to player, etc. It was a laughable statement backed up by nothing more than Sir Charles' considerable supply of hot air, which he willingly releases during each broadcast. By my estimation, Finley should have been Dallas' fifth or sixth option in 2004... which brings me to Nash, who was second only to Nowitzki in each season he spent in Dallas (even in 2004, his off season). And it continues in 2005. While it would be foolhardy to credit him (in Jason Kidd-fashion, circa-2002) with Phoenix's renaissance (Amare Stoudemire deserves most of the acclaim), Nash has played a large part nonetheless. There is a caveat, though: Nash has a history of breaking down in the second halves of recent seasons; let's hope, for the Suns' sake, that history does not repeat itself.

Steve Nash is the man! My Suns have the best record right now, but they wouldn't without Nash, this was an excellent signing. Nash is the 2nd best pure point guard behind Jason Kidd.

Nash is a damned good point guard...he controls the court and can score like a 2-guard when need be. He puts a ton of effort into every game and you can't say that he doesn't give one hundred percent. But are he and Dirk Nowitski dating lol...

Fits well with the Mavs, but he sure has been exposed for his lack of size and defense by other superior point guards in the NBA during the playoffs. There are several point guards I would take over Nash despite his gritty play and on-court determination.
