There appears to be two plausible scenarios, one being a willful participation in a conspiracy to legitimize the mobilization of American aggression in the Middle East, and the other being gross incompetance in the executive branch and the senior offices of every intellegence and legal agency in Washington. Nice set of choices.

I don't think that there is much of a conspiracy here: George W. Bush might not have known about the details of the attacks, but he certainly knew that we were vulnerable to terrorist attack. He certainly knew that al-Qaeda was in the planning stages of an attack, as it has been widely documented that he was briefed on the matter a month before 9/11. Given that, you would have expected the government to aggressively investigate the matter. But no, despite wide knowledge of this terrorist conspiracy within the halls of power, the problem was never investigated; and as a result, the attacks proceeded. That leads me to believe that it was willfully permitted to happen. Why did it happen? Perhaps bureaucratic infighting among different law enforcement or intelligence agencies might have contributed to a lack of communication about threats, but I suspect that there is more to the story than is being let on. We haven't found out, nor will we anytime soon. The 9/11 Commission found that our intelligence agencies along with the FBI and others dropped the ball, but they never investigated WHY they didn't follow up on such blatantly obvious signals that a major terrorist attack was in the planning stages. There are plenty of questions that need to be answered here. We need to open a new commission that will openly and impartially investigate this matter. I suspect that the truth about the attacks might be highly damaging to the US Government and especially to the related agencies charged with national security.

I cannot rate this too highly on the annoying scale because anyone stupid enough to belive this is somewhere between pitiable and hilarious.
Moosekarloff 01/13/2009
It depends what you mean by the word "knew." Did Bush have advance warning that terrorists were planning a strike in this country by using jetliners? Of course. He was tipped off by the FBI about this about six weeks before 9/11, but, in his typical braindead, ineffectual and goofball style, deigned not to put any pre-emptive safeguards in place to prevent this from happening. So, in this light, it's not a conspiracy theory, it's a matter of fact that is well supported in the public record, and has been for years. Was he part of the conspiracy that pulled the inside job known as 9/11? As this is still open to conjecture, and the government is not showing any initiative in following up on serious questions raised by the 911 Committee, such a notion is not annoying at all. If anything, the matter should be re-opened and investigated thoroughly. I wouldn't put anything past the war criminals who have been in the White House over the past eight years, including a set-up slaughter of innocent, defenseless Americans in order to establish a false justification for an oil war that soundly benefited their buddies in the petroleum industry and over at Halliburton, a diversionary tactic that ensured Handjob's re-election by the moronic American public.

President Bush: Hillbilly half-wit or international terrorist mastermind? Even if he knew, would he have understood? How could such a fool have kept the secret? Is it possible for an imbecile to craft such an involved plot? The haters need to come to a conclusion, get the story straight, and then start spreading their inane theories and making their bizarre documentaries.
Spike65 06/30/2008
Yes he knew. Right after it happened. Just like all of us. A tragic event for America.
numbah16tdhaha 01/21/2007
If you really believe this, why are you still here? I'd be looking for a new country if this was actually true...

This is pure hokey. I watched the first link suggested by reaverto, in his positing, and after that I don't need to watch another. The "proof" starts in 1962! The USA developed capability to fly aircraft without a pilot! Gee, that's scary. The whole thing is video clips and stills linked together with selected facts, innuendo, and some mope doing a voice over. I didn't time it but it went on and on. After it got going I was sorry I started, but I stuck it out. Where is the proof? Raising questions doesn't cut the mustard. Extraordinary claims take extraordinary proof. The link presents no real evidence that would be relevant in a court of law. Maybe a court on Pluto might let it in. At least the first link is laughable. If a lawyer tried to present this in the court of law, not only would the case get heaved out, the judge would probably cite the lawyer to his bar association for investigation as an incompetent! The narrator suggests that a cruise missile blew up the Pentagon and for proof shows us Slobodan Milsovic's house in Belgrade! You get the picture of the proof, don't you fellow citizens? The background music is also annoying!

I'll rate this one in the middle. I'm not altogether convinced that he (and/or those around him) didn't know something. As to why he/they would know and not do anything about it: well the attacks gave them the perfect excuse to attack Afghanistan and to try and finish what Daddy started in Iraq. Some of the theories are worse and far more damming. Particularly those surrounding the "plane that crashed into the Pentagon". Like I said, I sit on the fence on this one. I would hate to think anyone in any position of privilege or power knew about something so awful and did nothing about it but I wouldn't completely put it past them either.

Bush knowing about the 9/11 attacks is just like saying the ACLU actually cares about your rights and the Constitution.
jaywilton 04/04/2005
Normal people actually believe this.

This is more than annoying; it's the annoying truth.

Ok....and this theory is based on what... Michael Moore?
CastleBee 09/26/2004
Of course he knew - the 20 calls to the Psychic Hotline from the White House on 9/10 are proof positive. What a load of paranoid kaka! But I love the new one even better - Bush is responsible for the rash of hurricanes this year because he hasn't done anything to stop global warming! I wouldnt be surprised to hear that he's also retroactively responsible for the five that hit Texas back in the 1880's. If youre going to criticize someone to death at least TRY to stay within the realm of possibility and probability.
AryanDan 09/07/2004
Of course he knew, it was all part of the plan. I even knew about it. The Mossad cancelled their leader's trip that week in N.Y. for a Jewish anti-terrorist rally, saying it was too dangerous, and Israeli newpapers reported that the Mossad told Bush about the upcoming attacks two weeks prior. They even bragged about knowing about the attacks and telling Bush. I have copies of the Israeli reports.
GypsyPrincess 09/07/2004
No way did he know about 9/11, it doesn't make any sense for him to know & not do anything about it! Granted, he isn't the smartest man around, but he is not that stupid either! He may have gotten some information on possible threats, but I doubt he had much detail in regards to them. You have to wonder how many threats a day the US gets
minkey 05/10/2004
He crashed his Starfighter on Playstation 2 just hours earlier. Coincidence? I think not.
irishgit 03/07/2004
The brain-dead really come out of the walls for this one. Question: Did he know about a potential threat to American soil from terrorists? Answer: Of course, just like every president since Nixon if not before. Question: Did he know the details of the 9/11 plan? Answer: I warned you to stop eating those retard sandwiches, dammit.

so stupid
StanUzbeck 02/15/2004
What could Bush have possible gained from the 9/11 attacks? EVERYTHING! I really don't believe he had anything to do with it, and the truth is probably somewhere close to the official explanation that it was Al Qaeda agents, but where would Bush's presidency be today without 9/11? 9/11 was the greatest thing that could ever have happened to Bush politically. The world fell into his incredulous lap that day. His approval ratings soared above 90% automatically, without him doing a single thing. If 9/11 hadn't happened, his innumerable shortcomings would have been obvious to everyone. Everyone's attention would be focused on his failures i.e. everything else he's ever done. So while there's no way that Bush could have personally had anything to do with 9/11, the theory persists because he would now be nothing without the terrorist attacks.
kolby1973 12/28/2003
This is very, very annoying indeed ! I have a very hard time believing that George W. Bush would have anything to do with this crap. Even though he is by far NOT my favorite president, I really don't think this man would ever hurt America in anyway...I do think he is very loyal.
AndrewScott 12/28/2003
The real failure was from disjointed government agencies failing to pool their information together and connect all the dots on the behalf of the Bush administration. There may have been plenty of ominous clues, but clearly this never bubbled up the line to people of true influence and foresight who could issue the correct commands.
magellan 10/30/2003
This one is extremely annoying. If you really think that Bush knew about 9/11, how could you possibly continue to live in the US? People who raise this theory are either so cynical as to be lost causes, or are simply trying to shock you.
forgotten hero 10/30/2003
Eventually you'd have to ask yourself,What could Bush have possibly gained from being involved with the 9/11 attacks or overlooking them?
JonTheMan 10/17/2003
I don't think he knew about it beforehand but it was pretty convenient for his foriegn policy descisions...
Enkidu 10/03/2003
Annoying indeed! All conspiracy theories annoy me, but this one makes me groan and roll my eyes every time I hear it. I think that any time something truly tragic and unexpected happens, someone will begin to build a conspiracy theory about it. It must be some kind of bizarre coping mechanism for some people.
CanadaSucks 09/10/2003
Bush couldn't tie his shoes without Rumsfeld's instruction, let alone conspire 9/11.
TheFreak 09/02/2003
I think he's a terrible president and that there are plenty of REAL things we could complain about him. We don't need to make things up that make us sound ridiculous. This one isn't as widespread as the Cobain one (thank God), but it's pretty irritating for what it is. Give it a rest.
