There is no rivalry in baseball that matches this. There really is a level of dislike involved.

I'm a Yankee fan, and I love it when my guys beat those bastards from Boston, and I take every opportunity to gloat about it with my friends who are BoSox fans. And I expect, and get, the same in return.

Right after the Red Sox beat the Yankees in the ALCS in 2004, my friend irishgit faxed me a message simply saying "***k Bucky Dent, and Aaron Boone too." Sox fans never forget.

Of course, I had done something similar to him when the Sox lost the 2003 ALCS.

This is a family- friendly website, so I will not tell you what I really think...nor will I type out the rite of exorcism in Latin toward the first named club.

Perhaps the greatest of all sports rivalries, this is way ahead of the others here. Always classic games, and a hatred that goes all the way to the bone. UPDATE: My boys got a little payback this year, coming back to whip the pinstriped bastards after being down three zip. Takes this rivalry to a whole new level.

It doesn't get any better than this. Back during the ALCS, channel 5 (WCVB, Boston) was doing some 'man on the street' interviews, and a woman in New York summed it up best: This is the world series. It doesn't matter who we play after this. I don't care. Do you care? Of course, the fact that the Yankees staged the mother of all chokes, and oh yes, The Boston Red Sox have won the World Series !!!!!!!!! Makes this rivalry that much more intense. Watch out, the equipment van is heading to Florida in just 14 weeks!

Not only the best rivalry in baseball but the best rivalry in all of sports.

The most intense in baseball NOW...but doesn't compare to the Dodger-Giant rivalry of the 40s and 50s.

This ancient rivalry has had so many great moments. no other two teams have caused each other so much pain

I must say when I went on vacation in Boston three summers ago, I went with a friend who is a Yankees fan and he almost got us killed by wearing his NY hat around town. I have to say I hate the Yankees myself. I'm glad they lost again.

I despise both teams, but I have to admit that this is a great rivalry.

No doubt, I think this should be at the top of the list. Though the raw hatred of the 1970's has subsided into grudging respect for one another, games between these two are always classics and always entertaining.
