United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898) 5

Coming two years after the unfortunate Plessy v. Ferguson case, United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898) was a ray of hope as it helped define the fundamental rule of citizenship. Wong Kim Ark was a natural born citizen, and was thus entitled to all the rights and priviledges of American citizenry (there should have been no question to this absolute fact). For the Court to have possibly denied him his fundamental rights as a natural-born would have set off a dangerous precedent for which this country would have suffered greatly. But to say it manifest itself again later would be to deny the tragedy inflicted on natural-born Americans of Japanese ancestry during World War II. It ought never to be repeated again.

United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898) 5

Wong Kim Ark was a citizen born in the United States, so obviously it was wrong to deny him re-entry into the United States.
