In the ring..the best. outside of it not as classy. but nobody worked a match like the hitman.

Bret could really turn it on and have classic matches at times. I thought after the Montreal Screwjob he destroyed all credibility and became a glorified crybaby. His match at Wrestlemania 9 vs. Roddy Piper was the greatest job of storytelling ever.

Bret Hart was class inside the ring and outside the ring. He never seriously injured anyone he ever wrestled which is saying something considering the injury that ended his career. As far as getting screwed or deserving it... it doesn't matter, it was 10 years ago and both have said they would have done things differently. The fact of the matter is that Bret Hart was able to legitimize smaller wrestlers holding the title after Hogan left the WWF for more money in WCW. So whether you hate Bret or like him, you should respect his in ring ability and know deep down that not many wrestlers could put on a show like him. Bret is and always will be one of my all time favorite wrestlers and it's just a shame his career was cut short.

Bret Hart will always be the greatest technical wrestler of all time. He had the most entertaining matches and didn't need to cheat to get the victory. He has influenced alot of the other great technical wrestlers like Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Kurt Angle. He will always be the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

clearly the best as he did not have to scoop down to low tactics to get to the top. did it with class in an era that no1 could do it with class.

A real good wrestler. Comes from a legend. He was screwed by McMahon. Very skilled tactician.

I would rate a 2 and three quarters ,good technical skills but ego is detrimental to his opponants in and out of the ring.I know he got jobbed but so do other canadians and americans.what makes a champion is to perservere and come out on top again. The best there is...the best there was...and the best there ever will be. Bret "Hitman" Hart is BY FAR the best wrestler of all time. Any wrestling fan that doesn't respect his in-ring abilities isn't a true wrestling fan.

His feud with HBK leading to his loss at Survivor series was the greatest of all time. He needed to stay with the WWF.

Bret Hart got screwed for a reason. He signed with WCW and there was no way Vince was going to let him walk on to Nitro with his Title. Vince is a genius for doing it and the steal of the year ended up a bust that helped sink WCW and win the Monday Night War. Hart bit the hand that feeds and Vince bit back. UPDATE: There are sure alot of Canadians sucking up to Bret Hart. The screwjob killed whatever legacy he may have had.

When he hold the wwe tittle, he took up alot of slack after Hogan lost the belt. It surprized me when he decided to join WCW and Vince screwed him out of the tittle. A great wrestler, but made a couple of mistakes.

The 1997 Survivor Series, Bert Hart had it coming. He did not want to leave the WWF by losing the title. McMahon would not allow the WWF Championship Belt to be taken to WCW. So, WCW got a bust when they signed Bret Hart, and Canadians will always have a reason to go to WWE events as long as Shawn HBK Michaels is still around for them to chant YOU SCREWED BRET! Vince McMahon is a genious.

Bret hart is the best, was the best and will always be the best. He is a real time idol for pro wrestlers. seldom have we seen the man trying to hurt someone unprofessionally. Today we can never compare any wrestler who is as much respected the world over. With due respects to stars of yester years we ind india believe Bret is the BEST, we need to see more off shoots from the great family of H(E)ARTS. sashi. india.

The excellence of execution was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He had class, skill, moves and of course he was the coolest wrestler around. This is the guy upcoming wrestlers should look at and study to become a pro-wrestler! A true legend!

A professional who rose to the top and stayed at the top with minimum showsmanship and fanfare. He is the kind of wrestler (eg. Benoit, Bob Backlund etc) who is appreciated and respected by true wrestling fans for the quality of in-ring wrestling. I think a track record of zero injury inflicted on colleagues throughout his career reflects the so-called excellence of execution.

Was my favorite growing up. The hitman was the typical hero and executed the sharp shooter to defeat his opponents. I can't belive I thought those pinkish glasses he wore were so cool. Too bad his brother died though.

In his day, he was great. His character, and Bret himself, couldn't evolve well with the company (partial cause of his dissent with McMahon and the company in '96-'97). Because this is all-time and not modern day, I must honor the man. Great face, pretty good heel.

Never got tired of watchin the Hitman, loved that elbow off the second rope when the Anvil held the dude... good stuff

One of the Top 5 Greatest wrestlers of Canada including the likes of Gene Kiniski and of course,his father Stu Hart.One of the best 50 of all time in my book.

If wrestling were real, Flair would be the greatest ever. But Hart would have been the Frazier to Flair's Ali. A consummate technician but MEAN. McMahon, in a typical show of hubris, let this man slip away. I wish we could just remember Bret for his wrestling and none of the politics that seemed to shape his career.

Bret Hart was a good worker who had a tremendous cult following, especially in Canada, but I would put him a notch below the Hogans, the Flairs, and the Austins. His feuds with his brother Owen and as the leader of Team Canada against the U.S. were the highlights of his career. Of course, Bret will be remembered for the screwjob at Survivor Series. One thing that bothered me about Bret: He would say how parents and kids would be fine watching him because he promoted a wholesome message. Well, that time he swore on national television doesn't exactly constitute wholesome. (Rating Edit: I had originally given him a 3, but will switch my rating to 4. He did have a number of great matches with Hennig, Austin, Davey Boy Smith, Michaels, and his brother Owen).

What keeps Bret Hart from being up there with Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant was the fact that he was underrated in proportion to the performance he gave in the ring. Personally, I think he was one of the last great pro wrestlers before the new era of WWE.

Best There is, Best there was, and the Best there ever will be....Bret Hart; the greatest wrestler to ever live. Bret cahnged the WWf back in the early '90's and made talent and ability important and got rid of all those body builders who thought it was easy to wrestle. He never had a bad match and always got the best from his opponent; eg Davy Boy Smith (British Bulldog) never had a better match then Summerslam '92,he got the best from HBK and SC Steve Austin. Without a diubt he is the greatest. He knows every counter to every move, no-one can touch The Hitman when it comes down to pure wrestling ability. Had a good interview too...

Incredibly overrated, stupid Canadians.

I give Bret his due, he was a great performer during his run in the WWF. His in ring work was top of the line & as he became older his mic work improved greatly. However his runs as champ failed to capture an audiance & did little to better the industry. He was instrumental in the 2 biggest storylines(incidents) in WWE history, Vince screwed Bret & the selling of Stone Cold as the Fan Favorite Heel. WCW really hurt his legacy though. Bret Hart was the best wrestler ever because of his Technical ability his Charisma and his Integrity and he was the man Vince should have kept he should have got rid of some person like Chris Jericho because he sucks. Bret Hart is the Exellence of Execution the best 2nd generation technical wrestling superstar ever Bret the Hitman Hart. That's all I need to say.

A Ric Flair type wrestler known for entertaining matches, especially longer ones, and for having the ability to carry good to great performances out of much less talented performers. Unfortunately, Brett didn't have the charisma and interview skills Flair had, partly why the flamboyant Shawn Michaels replaced him as the WWF's top star after only a few years as champion. Like Michaels & Hulk Hogan, accussed of dreaded "backstage politics". Hart was a solid if unspectacular character who did not adapt well to change and who's interviews are generally 3 star. Always delivered in the ring, one of the best main event in ring performers in the last 20 years. Classic matches against Michaels, Flair, Steve Austin, and Roddy Piper among the best of the 1990's.

Bret was fearless. When he first got the WWF title he defended it constantly. In a way i think he started the wheels going on the downfall of wrestling by defending ti so much and getting fans hooked on having title matches more than they used to be.

ok holy crap i remember when me and my cousin were kids and he used to come on, we would pretend that we were him. then we would wrestle around in my grandmas living room. he was by far one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, both in popularity and talent. he always did a great job of making his matches seem believable unlike some of todays wrestlers

I stopped watching the WWF like i use to because it was dumb seeing fag boy (shawn) carry the belt around like a homo. he's wrestling now and its boring. its sad not to see Bret wrestle i wanna see 1 more match between them... and have Shawn repay him with a job...me and my boyz use to wrestle in the snow, or where ever just messing around and they would use there strenght and i would use techniques ...at the end sharpshooter ...lol..tap out..1 loss thats it.. got screwed too...anyways bret is irreplaceable all time greatest..they need to bring him back like Hulk Hogan..to let ride off in the sunset ..great with honor and pride

Bret "hitman" Hart is undoubtably the greatest wrestler in the history of wrestling. If it wasn't for bret I would have never started watching wrestling..and if it wasn't for wrestlers like bret hart who paved the way for many of todays wrestlers there would be no rock or stone cold steve austins. Bret revolutionized the face of professional wrestling and the the wwf as a whole. The now wwe would be much better off had they kept bret hart around. he will always be # 1 to me.~~Carla~~

bret rules!!! the best there is, was, and ever will be. i took a star off cause hes a whiner and a wuss though. he should have just done the job in montreal like a man. who cares about not losing in front of your hometown fans dude?. you were already a national hero by that point. one loss isnt going to do anything to your character. and in case you didnt notice - its fake!!!!! youve technically never beaten anybody.

Bret Hart has his own style and character. And he also has integrity. When The WWF decided to let him go (due to a cancellation of his 20 year contract) it was a wrong move. I believe that he was a pedestal for the wwf. The way it was done was wrong as well. The promoters are done with you and then they kick you in the backside. Watch walking in the shadows, a Hart documentary. It shows the side of the wrestler, and how they are taken advantage of....I don't like mr. Mcmahon's practices, but, from a business standpoint he should of been wiser. and at least let Bret go out with dignity as repayment for his loyalty throughout the 17 yearsapprox. he wrestled for vince. Then to boot we lose owen in that accident. I wish Bret the best of luck and continued success in whatever he does. Also to his wife, who has stood behind him through thick and thin...These are the kinds of wrestlers who give us their all and literally its the promoters who make the big bucks.

Bret Hart was an old-school wrestler, wwho was great in the ring. He didn't usually need shock tactics to get his message across. I miss the "Hitman". Chris Benoit reminds me of him.

A wonderful wrestler, and a "okay" person outside the ring. The only thing keeping him from five stars is his not being able to put the past behind him and forgive Vince McMahon. Vince did what he felt was right for the company, and Bret whines about it to this day. Poor business move on his part, and keeps the move personal -- 5 years after it happened.

bret hart is the 3rd greatest wrestler of all time behind hogan and flair, but he's the greatest wrestler of the 90's . his family has feel apart, owen, bulldog, brain pillman, and his mother have all died since he left the wwf.

Bret Hart is the reason why I started watching Wrestling. His technical ability made him the best there is, the best there was, and definetly the best there ever will be! Vince made a big mistake with Bret because Vince some day down the road will have to say who was the greatest wrestler he has ever employed and there only one answer to that.

One of the greats in the WWF. He was the heir apparent to Hogan's Throne but he never could fit into the WCW equation and it tarnished his legacy a bit.

Good wrestler. I loved his feud with Jerry "The King" Lawler in the early 90's (though Lawler won the feud as a whole. But that guy is a legend as well).
