Genghis Khan 4

United ALL of Mongolia, which at the time was just a bunch of nomadic tribes wandering around killing each other. Attracted the allegience of other tribes and allowed defeated armies to join his crew, rather than killing or enslaving them.

...Then went on to conquer mainland Asia. There's a reason we talk about the dude thousands of years later.

The things that have been previously listed as accomplishments are not the most important in my opinion. One of the most important things genghis khan did was open a trade route from the east to the west, by creating a land bridge to china. The contacts that were made with the mongol empire inspired european states to search for a sea route to the far east, thus creating the age of exploration in europe.

Possibly one of the best tacticians ever. Using diseased corpses in catapults to seige cities. Chemical warfare in a sense.

Had nothing. . .and conquered a land area greater than the Roman Empire. Battle tactics are still studied at military academies today. Western-centered universities overlook the impact of the Khan.

Boonta is somewhat correct on the sea battle part, but the battle was against mother nature. The Mongol fleet was thwarted by a powerful typhoon from taking Japan. The Japanese attributed this later to the Divine Wind, or Kami, which later became applied to the Kamikaze in World War II.

Khan concocted one of the largest empires ever. This thing stretched from the Russian Pacific Coast, all the way to the Atlantic Coast, and he did it with horses. And also a navy, the Mongols were involved in one of the largest naval battles ever.
