Personally, I don't think a guy wearing his underwear on the outside of a highly synthetic suit is cool or iconic.

Without a doubt the Superman suit with the S on it is much a part of pop culture, but most important is what it stands for truth, integrity, justice, doing what is right, doing what is good and honorable, helping others, putting others before yourself. It's a great icon.
