Smith and Wesson Model 29 with the target barrel. Not practical in any sense but scary as hell.

This weapon is the Model 29, Smith and Wesson, .44 magnum handgun with the 6 1/2 inch barrel. Most specimens have target grips, target trigger, target hammer and target sights. I don't know if Harry had the target sights on his Model 29, which is merely whitening around the cutout part of the back sight, but Harry's weapon had the rest. With a full power cartridge, it has heavy recoil and has a loud bark. It is not for the faint of heart! Do as Harry did we learned in "Magnum Force." Harry used .44 Special cartridges. This has the same size bullet as the magnum, but the case is shorter and the propellant much less. You get a large caliber bullet with lots of knock-down power, but much less recoil and report. I own three Model 29's and am very familiar with the weapon.

The most powerful handgun is probably one chambered for a rifle round like a 45/120. The most powerful handgun that was designed to use a round designed for a handgun is the new Smith and Wesson 500.

I am still wondering is it the most powerful hand gun or is it seconed to the DESERT EAGLE?

I'm not into guns at all, but I remember when this particular gun was a hot topic of conversation for some. Must be a power thing.

Nah. . .(1) it doesn't work if you aren't into guns and (2) one could argue that there are better pistols for the job.
