 | KittysickRIA (50) 08/06/2008 | What controversy? If Otto Frank wants to omit several passages concerning Anne's sexuality, he has the right to do so. BTW: Anne is a real person and the Holocaust did happen.

 | Vudija (94) 02/12/2007 | I don't see why people would wish to ban it. I have read better books on the nature of the Holocaust, but it doesn't diminish the impact this particular one had on people years after the fact.

 | irishgit (146) 02/12/2007 | Let me say up front that I'm not a huge fan of this book (as writing), although I recognize its immense significance.
Which Sonderkommando unit wanted to ban it?

 | oscargamblesfro (80) 02/12/2007 | Why would anyone want to ban this book? I say the people who like banning and burning books so much, oughta just come out and have the balls or ovaries to admit they can't read and are proud of that fact.

 | Magfanik (0) 10/23/2005 | Why is she famous? I really don't get how she became so. So she wrote a diary, big deal. It didn't talk much about the Holocaust, just that the Nazis were taking over and taking Jews to camp and how everyone was afraid. The Diary of Anne Frank is just mainly about her personal life.

 | Molfan (59) 10/06/2005 | I am not sure what order I am supposed to rate this I am giving this book a 5 because it is a great book that teaches us first hand what the holocaust was for one teenage girl. It is so sad to know that this courageous young girl never got to see what impact her diary had on the world.I will say first of that I am AGAINST BOOK BANNING myself. I have little patience with PTA type parents who think they have the right to tell us what we can read. Can anyone imagine if these troublemaking groups succeeded in banning Anne Frank's book.?Her diary was the first educational experience I had learning about the Holocaust. Now my kids have read it in their schools.

 | Crazy4monkey (0) 01/06/2005 | This book really showed what a jewish person went through when Hitler tried to make a perfect society. Although Hitler himself didn't fit his own picture blonde hari blue eyes. He had dark hair and plus his father was Jewish and he tried to cover it up

 | StanUzbeck (15) 10/30/2003 | I remember reading this book in the eighth grade. While I am baffled as to why anyone would ban this book, as the 'shocking' material from the original diary had long been edited out by Anne's father, I can't remember liking it one bit. Maybe it would have been better had it not been sanitized. And while it does touch briefly on the 'Jewish experience' in Germany in the years leading up to WWII, it doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of what the holocaust was like. Vastly overrated, but shouldn't be banned because there is no good reason to ban any book.

Only ignorant, insensitive anti-semetic racist people.

 | CastleBee (83) 09/16/2003 | This is a great book that goes beyond the term classic. And, when you consider the fact that it even survived at all, you start to believe that it almost goes into the realm of miraculous. This little diary has done more to prove the insanity that was Hitler's Germany than any other book written about that era. Why? Because it does more than report facts or atrocities it reaches out and touches hearts. That it would be banned (by the Alabama State Textbook Committee in 1983) is a total travesty. And their reason someone thought it was a real downer. Well, guess WHAT - so was dying in a concentration camp when your life is just getting started. Wake up and get a reality check!
