This is Roger Moore's best Bond movie. No doubt about it. Has two great villians, Stromberg and Jaws. Also has a good bond girl Barbara Bach. His other two great bond movies were Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only.

The Roger Moore version of FRWL has got it all: action, suspense, villains, women, humor, gadgets, exotic trips and fantasy. Everything is larger than life as it should be in a classic Bond movie - and is well stirred, not just shaken together!

I liked Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only a bit better but these 3 movies are the only really good ones Moore made. If he had only made these 3 movies he'd be much more fondly remembered by Bond fans.

This was okay. Probably the last before the franchise really lost its purpose. The film preceded Moonraker, where the character "Jaws" who had brutally murdered countless innocents in the movie before all of the sudden becomes a good guy when he realizes that the bad guys' efforts to wipe out most of the planet might include him and his mate.

This is probably the best Bond film during Roger Moore's tenor as Bond. A refreshing change after two slightly below average attempts (Live and Let Die) and (Man With the Golden Gun). The female lead is one of my favorite Bond girls although her acting skills are not the best. Strangely, despite the Cold War having ended years ago, films like this are still enjoyable to watch.

This is the best of the Roger Moore films. That's not saying much.

The Spy Who Loved Me is probably my favorite Bond film, and definitely my favorite starring Roger Moore (in his third appearance as 007). The screenplay is well written, the nemeses are creative, the locales are exotic, the gadgets are cool as hell, the main Bond Girl is both attractive and strong, and the theme song is sexy and top-notch. The plot is from the Cold War era (being released in 1977) as the chief bad guy (Stromberg) is trying to start WWIII by provoking a nuclear exchange between the Americans and Soviets with stolen submarines. Assigned to determine what's what are both Bond and Soviet Agent XXX (aka Maj. Anya Amasova) who is played by Barbara Bach. The two join forces in Cairo and then move on to adventures in Sardinia, under the seas, and on submarines which keeps the movie moving at a faster pace than some of the other films in the series. Spy is an improvement over Moore's previous Bond films in that it has less comic relief in favor of more appropriate darker and serious tones (though the film still has some of the campiness that has become important to the success of the franchise). One last observation of note is that the opening scene which normally has little (if anything) to do with the remainder of Bond films creates an ongoing sub-plot throughout The Spy Who Loved Me which was a nice touch. (Note that in Die Another Day (2002) the opening scene was actually a crucial part of the movie and storyline which I think was a departure from the Bond formula and a poor decision for the screenwriters.)

Considered critically the best of the Roger Moore films even though I enjoyed Live and Let Die as much as this one.

Along with the Live and Let Die, the best of the Roger Moore Bond films. An enjoyable film to watch.
