the south separating from the north, it definitely wasnt slavery like they try to make it out to be, lincoln freed the slaves to destroy the south, to win the war, so the country could be one again.

That's easy; economic greed from Lincoln and his financially-inclined industrial North. I encourage everyone on this site to read The South Was Right! by the Kennedy brothers. It does a fantastic job of making the truth more clear.

What Was the Major Cause of the Civil War? 2

The true cause was growing pains. When a new country is formed, there will be differences of opinions , economic disparity, jealousy, distrust and power grabs. Hence, there must be a civil war to figure things out. We're going to be dealing with this same problem in the (hopefully) newly created democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan for years. I know my reason is a bit general, but a civil war would have occured no matter what the actual trigger was.
