End of the summer. However, Nafta does really stink.

When I was a kid this day always meant the end of summer, and the school year looming ahead. My father was a trade union activist, and we always went to one of several huge Labour Day picnics put on by the Federation of Labour or the local Labour Council. Lots of food, games for the kids, and the adults seemed to find a beverage or two somewhere. Haven't been to one in years. Maybe I should check out the modern versions.

Another one of those holidays I forget about until I try to go to the bank or check my mail.

An appropriate holiday for the recognition of labor, which produces the wealth for the rest of us middlement. And provides the opportunity for a good closure for summer.

Gives many people a day off.

It's probably one of our countries most underrated holiday's, but I'm sure that if it were removed, there would be more outcry than if a nuclear bomb went off.

I don't know one single person who actually got off work this Labor Day -- kinda sad, isn't it? I had to work (although my day was a short one) and so did all of my family and friends. I didn't get a 3-day weekend. Instead, I got to cater to those people who did get a 3-day weekend!

Why do they call it Labor Day when most people are off work??!! Pointless holiday.

Although I'm not sure of this holiday's significance, I really appreciate having a 3 day weekend at the beginning of September.

Let's re-name this "holiday" rather than celebrate the checkered history of organized labor. Or maybe, we could invent some cool Labor Day games like "Scabs and Picketers" or "Where's Jimmy?"

I forget what this holiday is for?

Labor Day is a nice little bonus holiday at the end of the summer. Having a three-day weekend at the beginning of September is really pleasant, and I think it helps everyone ease back into the work/school routine. There's no pressure to plan anything, except perhaps a picnic, and the weather is usually starting to cool off a bit. I like the fact that I'm not supposed to be honoring anyone/anything in particular on Labor Day. I know that originally it was a political holiday, but now it's more of an end-of-summer celebration, which I prefer. What's not to like about Labor Day?

Some consider Labor Day the close to the summer season and that makes me sad in some ways, but since I am pretty lazy, it is a good holiday for me and a 3-day one at that! Bring on more of these 3 and 4 day (paid) holidays... I love 'em!
