War is always a touchy subject but why we were involved still brings up fights.

The war or the formation of the country back in 1954? I'll talk about the war... In retrospect, Vietnam would probably go down as one of the biggest mistakes the US made in the 20th Century. Vietnam began as a pretext to halt communist expansion in SE Asia, but in the final analysis, we lost ALL of Vietnam to the communists, neighboring Laos also fell and our bombing of Cambodia lead to the political de-stabilization of that country which lead to the rise of the Maoist Pol Pot regime, which killed thousands in that country. In the final analysis, this is a war which harmed rather than promoted American interests.

If we didn't go to war in Vietnam, Vietnam would have become a communist state in a few years. Oh wait! It did! Let's not forget the Khmer Rouge and all the fun those millions of dead people had in Cambodia being slaughtered. Vietnam was a huge mistake.

If we didn't decide to go to war with Vietnam, I would have grown up with a living father and not stuck living with my mother in my grandparents house, my mother wouldn't have had to face the death of her husband of only 9 months while 8 months pregnant with me, my mother and father would have had about 4 more children which means I wouldn't have been an only child and my daughter would have a bunch of aunts and uncles and cousins in addition to a grandfather on my side. And that's just my story. Think of just how many others there are!!!!!!
