It depends on what type of "ball" you are talking about.

Really. We're rating 'balls' as toys? Okay- I must admit to laughing at this one. Okay - here goes: Five solid stars. Entertains smart kids and Palin's kids at the same time. It's lightweight, inexpensive, and almost indestructable until hit by a car, a knife, a terrorist, or a Bush economic plan. It rolls over faster than Bill Clinton's interns! It's redder than Ted Kennedy's nose! It's a lot of fun kids! Take it from me!

great for handball and four squares. the red (newest, most bouncy) ball always had the most demand in my elementary school. you really had to know your way around talking to the yard supervisors to lend it to you rather than the other 15 pairs of little hands clamoring for it.

If there is any justice, I will have some ball chuckin' kids. The stuff you do to parents will be avenged by your children, you know. I guess I'll be saying, Not in the house!

My dad was constantly fighting a battle to clean up all of the balls that would end up in the yard after we would take them out to play. These are simple, but good to stimulate exercise in children.

What is shocking is to see that some toy stores don't even carry balls all the time, if at all. But, they've got tons of video games. So, what's next, virtual ball?

There was a time when it seemed like some kind of obligation for all the kids in our neighborhood to play kick ball at the end of the dead end street (which for some reason was known as the block off). It was okay, but not something I ever developed an attachment to. Especially after this one really big kid fell on me and knocked the wind out of me. Something about the feeling of smothering to death that puts a pall on almost any activity.

Chasing after balls is a guy thing. For this uncoordinated geek, anything involving athletics presented an opportunity to look and feel foolish.
