I used to repair my own flats. Ask a kid to do that today, and you'll get the weirdest look.

Can't go wrong w/a bike...it gets people to where they want to go (kids included)

Big five for one of the most underrated things about bikes- I bet it was the first time a few of us actually learned to use real tools for minor repairs. Think how that changed the way you interacted with the world. . .poppa CS - "Fix yer own bike- the tools are there." Bikes weren't just fun for me- they were a part of my tactile education. . .

Gave me plenty of exercise in Grandma's neighborhood.

Probably my favorite, most used, longest lasting posession as a kid was my Huffy spiderbike with the "bananna" seat.I rode that bike from about 8 years old to 16.

My bike was cool. First bike I got.. I was about 5 or 6 I think and it was a sky blue Schwinn with a banana seat with flowers all over it, and a basket in front with flowers all over it too. Really girly. But I thought it was special, because I had a trike longer than all the other kids. My sister left it out on the front lawn and some kids jumped on it and rode away, never to be seen again. Then I got a used boy's bike with sissy bar in the back and I thought that was just as cool, even tho I still missed my girly bike.

I love riding bikes. Out here in Phoenix, there are alot of bike trails in the parks. The trails at Papago Park near the Phoenix Zoo are some of the best and a little challenging in certain areas.

I recently got a new bike, and I really like it (though I'm not confident enough to ride with traffic--yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a wuss, but I figure I have to re-learn how to balance myself before taking on traffic). Can't wait until it gets warmer so that I can go out and ride again.

You can't go wrong with anything that encourages physical activity in children. And it can be wholesome fun, too! I'd much rather see kids riding bikes, skateboards, and rollerskates than to see them out getting into trouble.

I LOVED my bicycles and rode many into the ground. From the time I was little, I always thought of my bicycle as a car for a kid my age.

Receiving my beautiful turquoise two wheeler was one of the stellar moments of my life. I was never more thrilled to receive or proud of anything in my life. Over the years I adorned it with reflector lights, streamers on the handle bars, a horn and of course balloons and bubble gum cards attached to the spokes with clothes pins for that great classic flapping noise.

I loved my pink tricycle.

Learning how to ride a bike is somewhat of a milestone for each kid. You may have to go through a couple of crashes to get there, but everybody has to do it.
