must have got lost

totally under rated for their early material. It far surpassed any of the popular stuff they recorded in the 80's.

They were a fun band and they knew how to jam well. Peter Wolf was a charismatic frontman and Magic Dick was a show-stealer with his harmonica and sax playing. Many people say Wolf inspired rappers like on his live intro of "Musta Got Lost." They knew how to give a nod to their contemporaries like on their version of "I Do" as well as write humorous songs like "Freeze Frame," "Love Stinks" "Centerfold" and the pseudo-soap opera "No Anchovies Please." "Give It To Me" and "Ain't Nothin' But A House Party" are classic party songs as well. Give them their due and induct them, please.

Distinctive sound, incredible live show, great front man and a harmonica player who sounds like a horn section. Blow Your Face Out - best live album ever. Intro to Musta Got Lost was first rap. Appologies to Bob Seger(Live Bullet) and Ian Hunter (Welcome to the Club).

One of the greatest party bands and live acts ever. Way before their time and they broke up too soon.

A solid bar band that went the distance with a charismatic front man, but I don't think they were ever aiming to make great art or durable music. They had their fun, we can move on.

Yes. Their first album qualifies them all on its own.

I cancelled my trip 'cause there's no love on Monkey Island.

3 star band, at least. LIVE FULL HOUSE is one of the 5 greatest live LPs of all time.

Freeze Frame these freakers out of the hall forever!
Habs10 12/09/2005
Certainly hanging around the fringes of the Hall. "Live - Full House" is as good a live album as has ever been put to vinyl. Until they decide that selling records was more importnat than making good music they were unique. Not only does love stink, but so does selling out. None the less, Magic Dick harp blows with the best of them. J Geils was not the focal point, but Peter Wolf was as charasmatic a lead man and motor-mouth as there ever was. I like their chances and put them in my top 5 or 10 to get in. DEEP PURPLE, GENESIS, YES, JEHRO TULL

Interesting choice. Like Fleetwood Mac, Yes and Aerosmith, this band had two lives and two completely different sounds.

Not a bad band, but not every okay band with a couple hits should go into the Hall, even if they did have a fairly long career.

I think Doug Sahm should get in before J Giles Band - but hey they were one of favorites in the early 70's freeze frame was too commercial for me though.....
kingguiness 07/14/2005
The J. Geils band were much better than their sell out album Freeze Frame. But for an overly commercialized album, Freeze Frame was well done. Their 70's stuff was mostly ignored but they made some quality blues rock. I vote yes.

J Giels band were on the 2005 nominee ballad, so I'm sure they will be inducted sometime soon
