Some will offer an explanation of Bush's policies by correlating it with Texas's political culture--a legacy of crony capitalism, social policy revolving around religious fundamentalism, and a lack of regard for the environment. I believe that such analyses are rather shallow in nature. But there is no denying that it has a bearing on how Bush governs and where his core support is derived from. It's not fair to simply dismiss an entire state as a social backwater in the final analysis. If only answers to political problems were that simple!

You think that you are the smartest people in the world because your are from New York, New England, and California. Bush has a degree from Yale, that means he must be smart. By the way, did you know Dan Rather is from Texas.
