 | georges11 (16) 11/23/2007 | It comes as no surprise that George Bush has fuddled up the oil crisis. He comes from old money, has cronies that made Billions in the oil business, and was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. During his presedency the oil companies have made their highest profits ever, the price of gas has hit record highs. His oilmen friends are laughing greedily as they pull in the bucks we all work and worry for. I am not totally against Bush, I'm glad he was the man in the Whitehouse when 9/11 happened, but I question the need to invade Iraq and destabilize the situation in the middle east. Our young soldiers blood for Texas Tea is not a fair exchange in my book. It's difficult to argue war or religion but you gotta say something. I support the troops I just hate to see Americans die on foreign soil.

 | X Factor Z (13) 11/20/2007 | True, plus he ended up giving Iran a foothold in Iraq so they, (Iran) can take over and control Iraq.

 | Legend12 (0) 04/30/2005 | well it is apparent that whoever (country) has the most oil will rule the world cause you can practically create alot with Oil, right? so it is obvious why the war is going on, plus im sure we have enough of our OWN oil which we dont use to support our country. And what about Hydrogen Gas?...hmm...

 | drbowler (14) 03/20/2005 | You complain about Bush starting this war for oil, which he didn't, when you say he needs to get more oil for gas prices to go down, talk about being a hypocrite.

 | Wavebacker (25) 01/07/2005 | Diverted us from the War on Terrorism by going after Iraq. Where are the Weapons of Mass Destruction? Where's the Al-Quaida - Iraq link?

 | Major of the ROTC (1) 01/07/2005 | Look...oil might be somewhat a factor in Bush's decision to make this war happen BUT there are many other factors at play that qualify more higher than a massive amount of oil. For instance, you liberal Democrat, Saddam Hussein and the whole damn Al-Qaeda network is probably the only reason we went into this war. Besides the US is virtually the only country in the world that basically takes a stand anymore. Pick something else to rant about LEDZEP and start making sense.

 | CastleBee (81) 01/07/2005 | Sorry that I can't share the love of that blood for oil story that so many hold so dear. However, viewed from a slightly different angle; just how many crazy WMD producing countries do you think we will be able to keep at bay in the future if we run out of resources - like say, OIL?

 | jirai (0) 01/07/2005 | Supposedly we went to war because intelligence said that Saddamn had WMD. However, we knew for a fact that N Korea had a WMD program. Why didn't we go to war with them? I think oil had to do with this and also the fact that Saddamn took a pop shot and Bush's daddy.

 | LanceRoxas (40) 01/06/2005 | If that was his goal it has to be the stupidest attempt at gaining access to oil considering we could have lobbied the UN to end the sanctions and reduce the demands on the existing oil on the market. Instead he launched a war at the cost of over 300 billion to gain access to oil that we could have bought for a fraction of the price. Only a moron would believe something so stupid. And why didn't we assume Kuwait's oil when we liberated them? Where's the oil reserves in Afghanstan? Better yet- in actuality it was those adamantly against the war that were protecting their oil interests at the expense of the tortured Iraqi people- what was that saying again? Oh yeah, Iraqi blood for oil!.*****Tboneya, You seem to miss my point- the war was not pointless and just for oil. The United States had numerous reasons for engaging in military action in Iraq the least of which is the simplistic view posed by liberals that we wanted their oil. The long term initiative is to reduce Saudi terrorism and influence in the region by promote freer markets and propping up democracies where tyrannies existed. In the context of the War On Terror- the promotion of democracies in formerly repressed regions reduces the incubation of terrorism by opening up the market of ideas. In Bush's mind freedom is a universal right and those who are free to engage in open discussions on the course of their governments will never choose terrorism as the option for advancing their agenda. Each scenario poses different challenges for different reasons. Iraq represented the next best strategic target for the promotion of the Bush Doctrine. From a purely economic position launching a war to gain access to cheaper oil is a lose-lose situation and no one in their right mind would support such an endeavor. Unless of course you believe Bush is a moron and then it's totally plausible.

 | scarletfeather (46) 01/04/2005 | Well, it's not all about oil. Apparently Saddam plotted to kill Bush's daddy and that made Bushyboy just the tiniest bit angry. But yes, the war is about oil, no doubt about it.
