Not news to me. Politicians in general tell just enough truth to get your attention, and just enough of a lie so they can blame it later on the other candidate...

to everyone that said clinton lied, you're right obviously, but ge lied about his personal life, somthing i don't give a damn about. Its the way a president runs a country that concerns me. go figure.

so epiphany, where's this electoral bloodbath you predicted? and as for the topic, name ONE politician who hasn't lied to the American people, at least since the television era (when the lies became more obvious)
epiphany 01/21/2005
We can debate it until we are blue in the face and it's not going to change anything. These Iraqi elections are going to be nothing but blood baths. Plus, we cannot have an honest election in this country without someone claiming election fraud. How, in the name of Bush are they going to guarantee that there will be no election fraud, especially in a country where they are still beheading people; however, now they are doing it out in the open on the streets. How can there be elections when the Iraqis and our troops cannot control order? When someone cannot win a debate with facts and honest answers, their only defense is to make the person they are debating look like a horrible human being whether what they say is true or not.

NO! He must be a politician!

UPDATE: The charge of lied to the American people should not be tossed around so casually. Bush used the WMD's (which nearly everyone in the civilized world believed) partially to justify the deposition of Saddam Hussein from office in Iraq, but it was by no means the only justification for war. This man had invaded another sovereign country, had used poisonous gas to kill thousands of his own civilians (the Kurds) and had harbored and funded terrorists for many years. If you don't believe that, you have a problem with Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Madeleine Albright, Warren Christopher and a whole cast of clintonistas, among many others. Our intelligence gathering, at the time, was in a shambles and Bush had to rely on it. He perceived Saddam as a clear and present danger to the US. That's not lying, call it an error in judgement, a breakdown of intelligence-gathering or anything you like, but it doesn't appear to fall under the category of lying in this case. You who are so wildly outraged at the accusation of Bush lying, voted for a guy (probably twice) who put his hand on the Bible, swore to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and promptly lied his ass off in an attempt to avoid a financial judgement in favor of a legitimate plaintiff, a crime for which he paid a very high price, which you then somehow rationalized. Whatever the motivation, whatever the justification, we're in. And we're not pulling out, for a long time. We have boots on the ground, soldiers and civilians in harm's way and we need to establish this democracy, if not for the sake of Bush's credibility, for the long-term credibility of America's diplomatic reputation. To pull out now with our tails between our legs, which is what the idiotic left wing peaceniks want, would make Americans and the rest of the world enormously unsafe and every 2-bit terrorist emboldened about his/their ability to break our will. Think about it. ORIGINAL COMMENT 1/4/05: I believe the majority of Americans believe this to be little more than a shrill talking point, (whining point) characteristic of the loony lefties, who generally add very little to intelligent political discourse in America. I think that the accusation, lied to the American people applies much more damningly to Bill Clinton and to John Kerry, unless there's some example of Bush lying, that is more literally verifiable.

about what, and what president hasnt?

A career politician telling fibs - ya think? Of course, everything that proceeded out of the mouth of Kerry and Clinton should be chiseled in stone and placed on courthouse lawns. Who needs the 10 Commandments when you have such stellar, noble examples of humanity in our midst?

He said that he'd be a uniter before taking office. So far, he hasn't lived up to it.

Hasn't told the truth about the war. There is a special chair in hell for those who lie to initiate a war for a false reason. The number of Americans killed by Iraqi terrorists is lower than the amount of people killed by Ted Kennedy's car. When did Americans become such stupid sheep? Where is the outrage?
