I agree with orangecharlie. This movie had so much potential bu tdidn't live up to it at all. It could have been great but I think the writers were preoccupied with trying to make it like other horror movies...when in fact the scariest horror movies are the ones that are creepy and leave you wondering.

The film started out well, grabbing my attention with a strange but still pretty fascinating concept. Unfortunately, character development began to slip about 30 minutes in - something that sets my interest adrift every time. I might have overlooked that a little more this time if it hadnt been for the fact that it wasnt long before the whole story seemed to be unraveling. It was as if the writers hadnt really done their research/homework and therefore couldnt get beyond the Oooo, this is scary realization and proceed to the next step of knowing just where they wanted to go with that thought. Of all the possible directions they might have chosen, the route they finally picked led to a flat and unsatisfying destination. Over the last couple of years, Ive read a lot about EVPs and other supposed phenomenon and was looking forward to that rare horror film that requires the use of your brain and one that would explore this idea. While I wasnt 100% disappointed, I admit that Ive often been more mentally challenged, impressed and creeped out by accounts Ive read on the Internet.

I was so bored!! I think White Noise had the potential. I didn't expect a horror movie since I had seen Michael Keaton on TV talking about it. What I did expect was a decent thriller and White Noise didn't deliver.

I thought it was a good movie. If you are jumpy like me, you will jump a lot. it wasn't scary or really suspenseful, but I still thought all and all it was good. It is a movie worth seeing once, but I don't think it's one worth buying.

Actually, I was going in to this movie expecting to have nightmares--the trailer was creepy enough, so I guess I went in with high expectations. Johnathan Rivers, a respected architect, loses his wife unexpectedly; heartbroken, he tries anything and everything to understand what happened to her. A strange man comes up and says that they can contact her through deciphering white noise (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), and John finds himself obsessed with something that spirals out of control. Acting is okay, effects aren't the highlight of the story but is alright; as a horror movie, though, it didn't freak me out as much as I hoped. I did jump a few times, admittedly, but I was too busy thinking about the silly things in the movie. A general rant about movies about contacting the dead: Why the hell do ghosts have to be so damned cryptic? Why do they say stuff like Go, Now! or Seven Days? Why can't they just tell 'em Hey, check your brakes before you go!, or Just copy the damn tape, and we're cool? And, on the same token, why do people not take the advice of ghosts when the message IS clear? If a ghost tells you to leave, YOU BAIL, and you shouldn't wait around! Or, if screwing around with creepy stuff killed someone you know, why would you wanna keep doing it?? The only reasonable answer I can come up with is, Because if they did that, the movie would only be five minutes long.
