one of the worse and more ridculous Bond films made up for by the presence of the hugely sexy Lois Chiles. She has that kind of sophisticated, smoky allure that Lauren Bacall once had

Easily the most capable of all the Bond women until Halle Barre came along, and that was what made her so attractive to me. People complain about her being aloof and cold early in the picture, but she was an undercover CIA agent and not particularly impressed with Bond's charms. Not only is she in all of the cities Bond goes to before he arrives, but she has a slew of gadgets just like Bond, she pilots the Moonraker shuttles, and she takes out two of Drax's henchmen in about ten seconds flat. I think she gets an undeserved bum rap from some Bond fans.

I'm surprised she's ranked as highly as she is. Since MOONRAKER was only mildly interesting, I'd have figured nobody'd remember what a muffin she was. Came off a little frigid and self-absorbed, but those qualities no doubt melted away during a fortnight of fun (even shackled with the dour brittleness of Roger Moore). Dippy character name, but her looks made you forget the shortcomings of the movie.

What a name!!! I recall her delivering a deft martial arts kick in Moonraker, of which Roger Moore asks her, Where did you learn that? CIA. Of which Dr. Goodhead replied, No, Vasser.

Lois Chiles was not as sexy or exotic as many of the other Bond Girls, but there was always something about her that appealed to me. Perhaps it was the fact the she looked like someone I could actually meet (as she does look like an ex-girlfriend of mine) or perhaps it was that no sane man turns down a woman named Goodhead (and a Doctor to boot). Anyway, Chiles was not just for short-term eye candy as her role as Dr. Goodhead was a strong, intelligent woman who was with Bond throughout the film (not to mention how she filled out her astronaut suit). Lois Chiles was born in Houston, Texas on April 5, 1947.

Lois Chiles is gorgeous. She may not be a spectacular actress, but this role finally presents a Bond woman who is smart, competent and has skills that 007 lacks.
