Some 'liberal' policies are definitely idiotic, but when was the last time you heard of a liberal advocating the assassination of conservatives?

I don't like name-calling or labels. It is tiresome and a complete waste of one's time and energy. It raises our anger levels and leads nowhere. I am especially unhappy with each party trying to turn the "ship of state" down a new path every four years or so. What a waste of money and time. I think our politicians do their best work when they do nothing. At least they aren't messing everything up. Every time we pass a law it eventually has an impact on individual freedom. We can all think of people and behavior that we don't like but don't keep passing laws and pretending things are better. If the government was to start enforcing all the existing laws, we would all be in trouble. Just think of all the noise ordinances, jaywalking, spitting on the sidewalk, parking and traffic infractions, etc. laws on the books. Not to mention all the private property ordinances on the books. Just think of all the littering that goes unpunished. Wow, what a potential revenue raiser that would be! My point is passing more laws without broad public support is a complete waste of time. (puts soapbox away...)

Liberalism isn't what it was back when. Liberalism Today is controlled by the Left Wing, and yes...I despise some of these people.

I hate the ESTREMES of both sides. This is going to sound very cheesy but, can't we all, just, get along?
Miss_Perverse 06/25/2005
Sometimes I think we brand a group and sweep half the population into it. The connotations are Liberal = rebel Conservative = dogmatic. I'm a MODERATE liberal and just because of what I classify myself as, you'd hate me? How illogical. I don't go shouting out my political/social preferences to the world, unless I'm asked.
angry girl 06/19/2005
You can hate liberals like me all you want to, but we will still have our views and opinions. No name calling or stupid pictures will change that.
earthbound 04/25/2005
One of the many things that I learnt when I came to the USA, my adopted home, which I do like very much, by the way, is that 'liberal' was almost a curse word in certain groups. For me, to be liberal always meant to be ready to embrace a new perspective and to question any dogma passed on to you. 'Conservative' implied by its root, 'conserve', to resist changes to the status quo, to be prepared to accept what was spoonfed to you all your life, be it communism, capitalism or whatever...For me, people that I regard as 'liberals' in their time, were at the forefront of the most positive changes in history. As time goes by, and the perspective of history shifts, their views are often assimilated into the mainstream and become part of a 'conservative' value system, as with the views of slavery abolitionists, etc., but in their time, they were, I believe rather 'liberal' than 'conservative'. It is time to reinvent this label.

What I hate are liberal IDEALS and ideas, not the people. I do get annoyed when liberals try to push their progressive ideas on me. But only then do I hate liberal people, other than that instance, no.
Donovan 04/01/2005
Sometimes they drive me crazy with their anything goes attitude but I do not hate them.
CanadaSucks 04/01/2005
I think they get a little annoying with all of the causes, but liberal thought of tolerance and change is a conerstone American philosophy (I know how horrifying that is to conservatives) Liberal philosophy is an idea that embraces the greatest changes in this culture - ending of slavery, ending of racist segregation, allowing women to vote. Conservatism has its strong points, but their idea of tradition is better just doesn't fit a rapidly changing world or population. The hatred of liberals confuses me. . .it smacks of intellectual and philosophical insecurity. Every major 20th century advancement in equality was won by leftist liberals over established conservaties. How does one answer that?
nhhcguy1977 03/31/2005
Q. What do you call 20,000,000 liberals at the bottom of the sea? A. A good start! Liberals represent evrything wrong with America today like The ACLU, activist judges, political correctness, NAMBLA, affirmative action, abortion, weak on terrorism, etc...etc..... Screw liberals!
James76255 02/14/2005
I don't have much of a problem with a regular old Liberal, for instance Dick Gephart or Alan Colmes. I don't like 70% of their opinions, like how they think killing an unborn child is a matter of choice but what you do with your own money is up to the government. However, I believe most Liberals are genuine, and I can respect that. The Liberals I have a real problem with are the far left wing Liberals. Michael Moore, Jane Fonda, Nancy Pelosi and the like are nothing but a bunch of phony nuts that base their opinions on hate and conspiracy.
Jar-Jar Binks 02/13/2005
They rule. They're the only types of people who want to make things better.
CastleBee 02/07/2005
I dont hate them. But what I hate ABOUT them is the immature need to be constantly in rebellion whether there is something to rebel about or not. I hate the selfishness, the tendency to want to shock and be perverse in every situation. The way some seem to believe they have cornered the market on compassion and are the only ones who ever thought war was ugly. The way they always seem to know just how to solve the worlds problems and their best plan to do so nearly always seems to involve spending other peoples tax money. The farther left a person strays, the more they impress me as nothing more than head strong children who have lived just long enough to think they know it all. My theory has always been that the farther you wander off on either side the less you are capable of wise judgment.
Flick01 02/07/2005
No, I don't hate liberals. I was even one myself but that was many years ago when liberalism had a different meaning than what it has evolved into today. Like others before me have said, I didn't leave liberal values and ideals, liberal values and ideals left me.
samjung23 02/07/2005
Liberals are just as bad as conservatives, if not worse. It's actually moderates that make worthwhile changes, not liberals. If a liberal changes something, it's because it fits his agenda, not the oppressed person he claims to defend. Just as intolerance to change can destroy a country, so can too much change. Sometimes, you have to stick with what works. Liberals try to change everything without regard to the consequences. So in that respect, I hate them.
LanceRoxas 01/21/2005
I don't hate liberals whatsoever- I hate liberalism. That being said bright people have been known to have really bad ideas at times that lead to deadly consequences (of all ideologies) so I'll always argue vigorously for my point of view. It's liberals- those who profess to be tolerant -who are more prone to being intolerant of conservative view points, consistently eluding to calling conservatives racists, sexists, homophobes etc. ****Update, It's simply impossible for liberals to understand the world as a conservative sees it. I've said it before but they make the fatal error of interpolating motive from their perspective on the world and induce nothing short of the most insane reasons for a conservative actions. The essence of conservative thought is defining instrumental principles to devolop positive law upon for the common good. Liberals view the creation of freedom through asserted natural rights and the respect of those rights through social contract. If you ask a liberal what protects freedom they will always say the bill of rights when in actuality it was never even going to be included in the constitution. Alexander Hamilton and Madison both thought it was redundant because there was no inherent tension in the constitution itself. Liberty rested at the hands of the democratically elected representatives- this is eloquently defended by Madison in Federalist #10 and in Federalist #83 it's obvious Hamilton would be astonished at the pervsion of the system itself at the hands of the judicial branch. Liberals always misconstrue license for liberty and assume if you see a purpose for limiting behavior you are anti-freedom or for discrimating against whatever pet faction whose agenda they see fit for advancement. It's a simplistic philosophy. SF, Is whatever the extent of your retort these days? Sounds like um... something I heard maybe in 8th grade? Oh yeah but the bonehead who's arrogant and stupid is in the highest office of our land. Man you're right, that guy is soooo like dumb hee hee... If you like Hamilton so much I suggest you read him- what he has to say about human nature and the structure of our form of goverment- I'm can assure you he doesn't support perverted rights that usurp the authority of the people governing themselves through a tyrannical judiciary. As a matter of fact he wasn't a proponent of judicial review- so what exactly do you like about him? The fact that he was shot dead by a Clintonesque pragmatist from NY?

One reason this country is so screwed up is becuase it is run by boneheaded, arrogant, stupid Republicans. If we had a decent liberal President in the White House, our country would be in better shape. At least we would not be in Iraq. UPDATE: Ok, Lance, whatever you say. For the record, I may be a liberal, but I like Alexander Hamilton.

Now, BIGBABY, is that picture necessary? I don't hate liberals, in general or individually. What I do hate is the inevitable tactic (once you get down to the brass tacks of a discussion) to twist their opponent's viewpoint to make it negatively personal, illogical, fascist, selfish or cold-hearted. Republicans want to cut taxes, because they're greedy. Guns should be controlled (confiscated) by the government because the people who own guns cannot be trusted not to use them in a crime. They don't NEED a gun anyway, why let them have one? Republicans are against abortion because they want to control other peoples' lives and meddle in their choices. Bush pushed for tax cuts for his rich, republican friends. Republicans hate unions, and unions take care of the little guy, Why can they not argue the logical points we disagree on without characterizing me as stupid, heartless or greedy? Is that so much to ask? If you believe in your viewpoint, tell me what it is without trying to tell me who I am and why I think the way I do.

I don't hate liberals who can control themselves and can explain their arguments in an articulate and factual way.

Liberals used to be ok, back in the day of dinosaurs such as HHH (most of you probably don't know who he is) and Adlai Stevenson. But this type of individual has evolved into a more Socialist type. And where Socialism goes, failure follows.

The smart, liberal people in America are disappearing and are being replaced with greedy conservatives. What is so bad about liberals? Most of them support the Separation of Church and State, Civil Liberties, the environment, and they represent the working and middle class, not the richest of the rich like the conservatives do.
jagman28782 12/02/2003
I think liberals are at the core of all the problems in America and I hate all of the except LadyShark4534, she's actually clear-headed.

If it weren't for liberals who would I take a stand against? Who would I disagree with, contend with & fight with? Opposition is what makes the world go 'round so you can count on me jumping down your throats in the future.
