I think this is one of King's best and yet most pessimistic of his novels. The central ideas of the deconstruction of the families and male dominence are very interesting and make me want to read it again and again to gain new insights. The foreshadowing is followed through very well throughout the book, and the irony as well; for instance, Cujo got rabies from a bat, and died in the end by a bat. The ending broke my heart a little- not so much for the dog, although I am an animal lover, but more so for the little boy and his "monster words". Still, what makes the novel great is that the ending reflects parts of our own lives that don't end the way we want or predict, and it's tragic.

Ok-- I understand "Lolita", I can even understand "Catcher In The Rye"-- I don't condone censorship, but I can understand why people were stirred up and disturbed by those books....but CUJO!?! At his best, King is a less than skilled writer (although a pretty good storyteller), but in terms of provocative or subversive material, he's on a par with John Grisham or Tom Clancy. If "Cujo" got banned (had to be somewhere in the Bible Belt), Hubert Selby and the Marquis De Sade must be rolling over in their graves.

It should have been banned everywhere. This is a stupid book. Why people would let this mutt terrorize them when they could have shot it about ten pages into the tome? Of course, then we wouldn't have a story, for the Stephen King suckers, would we?

'Cuju' banned? Are you f#cking kidding me? It has violence and one guy jerking off on a bed- it was great high school reading. . .looking at overrated horror books improved my literacy and made little ol' me get a graduate degree. Don't ban books, kids- if it bothers you it's probably worth reading for the entertainment value alone.

i think that it was a very well written book and i think that it shouldnt be banned because if you dont want to read his material then thats your choice and besides it helps get the imagination going.

I'm a 9th grader, and as a class we had to choose a banned book and read it, only with our parents approval. I chose Cujo. I can see why it was banned. Stephen King went a little too far in grossing detail. But I think it was a great book. I believe it is one of the best books King's ever written. But why do people banned books, if they find something in there, they dont like, and it feels offensive to them, then why do they get it banned, why dont they just stop reading it then, you morons, if you dont like it, stop reading it.

I do not believe in banning books. Not one of my favorite Stephen King books since i am a big dog lover and it is hard to cheer for the death of Cujo even if he as mad with rabies. still I would not deny someone else reading this book. as for the profanity, oh please! Have you ever walked down the halls of a middle school or high school? The profanity you hear is already there this book Isn't going to make it worse.

One of Stephen King's most well-written. Move over, Scooby Doo! Cujo's the new family dog!

Cujo is one of the best horror books ever written by King. It should never have been banned anywhere.

There's nothing worth banning in this novel. Sure it's violent as hell but it's nothing more subversive than being a fine horror tale.

Creepy horror story with a lot of suspense. A good read.
