 | Spike65 (11) 04/20/2008 | Burt took on many unusual roles besides the big movies he starred in. Check out "The Train" or "Come Back Little Sheba". Always professional and tried to give his very best in picture he was in.

 | kbaumoel (0) 01/13/2007 | Great actor who was more concerned with giving meaning to a role than with stardom. And by the way, for one of the previous reviewers, he wasnt gay. I knew him well for over 30 years!

 | candy kane (18) 02/08/2006 | A pretty boy who became a great actor. Check him out in Elmer Gantry and Birdman of Alcatraz during his prime and then crafty character performances in Atlantic City and Field Of Dreams later on.

 | Underspin (24) 04/01/2005 | Burt Landcaster was a classically-trained Hollywood actor. When watching his actual films, he doesn't comes off as a mere screen personality re-playing himself in each and every film (a la Cary Grant). Neither does he come off as a mere actor mimicing a script or role. His acting's not only highly believible, it trancends the ordinary. Just a sample of great films I've seen of his are: The Rose Tattoo, The Swimmer, Come Back Little Sheeba and Birdman of Alcatraz.

 | filster (0) 01/13/2005 | One of the greatest and most versatile of all actors. His best includes: The Killers, The Crimson Pirate, Come Back Little Sheba, From Here to Eternity, Gunfight at OK Corral, Sweet Smell of Success, Elmer Gantry, Birdman of Alcatraz, The Train, Atlantic City - and of course what other US star could have played with such confidence the Sicilian prince of The Leopard?

 | Moosekarloff (17) 07/21/2003 | One of the greatest old-timey Hollywood stars. Physically imposing and quite convincing in most of his roles. He did pick some bad scripts, but his performances usually rose above mediocre material. Great job in "The Killers," "Come Back Little Sheba," "The Crimson Pirate," "From Here to Enternity," "The Swimmer."

 | mickey61 (0) 04/25/2003 | The guy made acting look effortless! He was great to the end! Catch the movie "Tough Guys" with him and Kirk Douglas playing similar roles they played together in the 40,s. They don,t make guys like this anymore!

 | Molfan (57) 04/01/2003 | I have not seen a lot of Burt Lancaster's movies. The ones I have seen, he is a good actor. he was great as the scoundrel in Elmer Gantry. and in The Birdman of Alcatraz. I also liked his small role in Field of Dreams as the kindly doctor who had dreams of being a baseball player. I liked the roles I did see him in.

 | CastleBee (81) 10/01/2001 | A good actor but tended to be an extremely intense one. When I think of him in most of his roles, my mind conjures up this cartoon-like visage - triangular, muscular, jerky movements and a perpetual smile full of gleaming teeth. Burt chewed more than his share of scenery and sometimes went a tad over the top but usually put in a memorable performance regardless.
