It is less than ok. I never really got into this movie, although hanks was as good as you could expect in it. I think I watched it once and never again after that. Figured it was made for guys to drool over all the chicks in it.

Another classic Sports movie that no doubt gets overlooked because of the subject matter. As a Sports movie , this was a well made and well presented story. It was truly a storytelling movie that didnt need to rely on Baseball/action scenes and instead allowed the characters to develop and interact. It made sense in the end that a woman produced it, but Penny Marshall really hit a home run with this one. This movie actually made Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell likeable and enjoyable characters to watch. Five Stars.

Everytime I turn on the TV, League of Their Own seems to be playing, and I always find myself caught up in it for at least a few minutes. Did anyoone think of this movie when Brandi Chastain ripped her shirt off in the women's soccer final a couple years ago? I thought it was a pretty good example of life mimicking art... talented female athletes spicing up their presentation a bit to generate a little buzz.

I can't give it 5 stars (it's not Raging Bull or Rocky) but this is still damn funny- and if you've ever played baseball at any level it's even funnier. Tom Hanks as the drunk manager still has me in stitches. Baseball sequences aren't bad. . .but they are more for comedic effect.

Well made movie about the brief history of the professional women's baseball. Some surprisingly good performances by some unlikely actresses and an excellent script make for a very good movie.

Very well done. A superb cast and an excellent story. All in all, an exceptional sports film.

This is a great movie. It shows how things were during this time period. They had good actors for the part and it was a really really good movie. It talks about how women took over jobs that were thought to be manly and not suited for women and how they did a great job. It's also great to see that a little hard work and some fun can get you a long way as it did these young women. They actually get inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. It's also based on truth which makes the movie even better. But don't take my word for it. Watch the movie yourself and see what you think. I'm for sure that you will enjoy it.

Released in 1992 and directed by Penny Marshall, A League Of Their Own was enjoyable and humorous if not perhaps a very accurate representation of the All-American Girls' Professional Baseball League during the 1940's. For the uninitiated, the concept of the film is the creation of professional women's baseball teams to replace the men who are off fighting WWII. The women generally take the game seriously, while the owners and managers are just looking for a sexy form of entertainment to sell. The casting is well done with Tom Hanks as washed up ballplayer Jimmy Dugan who is hired to manage the team, Geena Davis as the sexy and talented Dottie Hinson, and Lori Petty as Dottie's sister Kit Keller who always struggles in her sister's shadow. Both Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell provide comic relief. The movie does emphasize more feminine themes than is typical of a sports film, but these are adequately counterbalanced by Hanks' portrayal of the usually apathetic Dugan (eg there's no crying in baseball). The bottom line is that A League Of Their Own gets a least one bonus star for offering a unique take on sports.

A very nice story, with history, girls in short skirts, female bonding, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, Geena Davis, Tom Hanks and no crying in baseball.

Wasn't expecting much from this movie, but not bad for a semi-chick flick.

Anything with Rosie O'Skankell sucks.
