This was a great movie. I live in Indiana and that makes this movie a lot more meaningful to me. And the fact that it's based on a true story too, it's just great and one of my all time favorites.

Great movie. Why is it called Hoosiers when I don't recall any reference to it except that they played in the state of Indiana?

No one could have pulled off that coachs role like Gene Hackman did! Dennis Hopper carried a great supporting role. A great true story about a great group of kids from the heartland. What more could you ask for.

The (true) Story is simple and you know how it will end, yet this may (arguably) be the greatest Sports movie made. It , too is very much Americana, 1950's Midwest Basketball, it doesnt get much more American than that. Underrated HS kids in a small town use practice and discipline to win a Championship. Everything in this movie works, the acting, the storyline, the music it even looks very much like it's time period. A classic movie that one can watch over and over again and never get tired of.

Probably the best sports movie ever made. Yes, it was a true story, and it was remarkably close to what really happened. One differance, and I'm not sure why, but the movie has it taken place in 1951 when it actually happened in 1954. I saw a whole show on ESPN about it and the guy that the Jimmy Chedwick character was based on along with one of the players from the opposing team were on. As a side note, I agree with the Barbara Hershey comment. I cringe everytime she's in a scene. What a bitch of a character that was in no way germane to the story.

WE'RE GONNA RUN THE PICKET FENCE! It still makes me pump my fists in the air. It still inspires. It's corny as hell, but it's still watchable.

I agree with Randyman what a wondeful film, with a truely great message.

Great movie. When I was going to management school at McDonnell Douglas, this movie was shown to us as an example of leadership, teambuilding and trust. It was very effective.

This film had a very broad appeal because it wasnt simply a sports film. The action involved was riveting and well timed but it did not dominate the film. There was a basic realism about it that very much captured an era and brought it to life. An underdog movie with heart and an appeal for any age regardless of your degree of interest in sports.

A very good and well crafted movie. Somewhat understated, it is all the more powerful for that.

This should be #1

Would be a 5 if not for the completely irrelevent character played by Barbara my scenes made the entire cinema groan Hershey.

One of the all-time greats. I love basketball, and this movie is one of the reasons why.

By far the greatest sports movie ever... Reminds you that anything is possible with a little hard work.

This is the perfect movie for any basketball fan, and if you don't like basketball the story is amazing. After watching it you'll feel 7years old again and that anything is possible.

This one still chokes me up. Gene Hackman is brilliant in this story of small town life and big time dreams.

Well-acted, well-written and well-directed. Hoosiers was good all around. Very entertaining and inspiring.

The best basketball movie ever made, with a theme of character, hard work and unselfishness. And Gene Hackman.

I thought this was a true story. I was disappointed when I found out it wasn't.
