One of the better football movies. Denzel Washington played the part fantastic. I agree that the football scenes could have been better done.

Overrrated, predictable movie that was handled poorly, due mainly because it was a Disney movie. The story and the way it was told should have been edgier and more balanced. It's a story that wants to be about how two sides come together thru Sports and join to create a Championship team. Instead it tries to be an underdog story as well as a story about two sides uniting. Just not done very well and the Football scenes are just OK.

I think Denzel is a great actor, but this movie is really overrated. The football sequences were decent, but the players were archetypes: west coast gay kid, fat kid, buzz-cut white racist kid, sensitive white kid, and on and on. And what's with the smart-aleck 7 year-old daughter who knows everyting about football? (Please) Best part of the movie was the tension and dialouge between both coaches. Worst part of the movie was how northern virginia in the early 70's was portrayed as Birmingham (Long time Alexandria and Arlington residents claimed that although racism certainly existed the film blew it way out of proportion.) An uneven film with a good ending.
