Franziskaner is a great wheat beer. The flavor is very rich and the bottles contain heavy yeast, which is suggested to be poured into a glass over the beer. This can be consumed straight from the bottle - though it is better from a glass - by swirling the bottle when it is about half empty to dissolve the heavy yeast.

I have tried many different Hefe Weiss, from all the companies in Germany to some Brew Pubs in America. Franziskaner is the best priced, most flavorful, and the most refreshing of them all. Other Hefe's to try is Konig Ludwig Weissbier, Ayinger and Weihenstephaner. Other ones from Germany are good but those are the top choices in my opinion. All American Hefe is terrible. I have yet to run into a American company that makes good Hefe. I bought bottles of UFO Hefe once and it was really BAD. I went out to a bar that had many different tap's of beer and they had UFO hefe on tap, i thought maybe it would be better, but it was even worse. No beard taste to it, no zest or fruity aroma. It was just a regular beer, almost the same taste of Blue Ribbon or Miller.

Tough to think of a beer I can say I like better all around. I prefer the Gold Label Hell over the Dunkel, but they are both great pints that really make me want to fully taste the beer.

Great, classic German hefeweizen. Nice bread and citrus characters and an excellent quencher.

A delicous beer. My second favorite summer beer, just behind hoegaarden. Even better when served in a nice 20 oz glass...

Out of all the Hefe-Weissbiers out there this is the one I would stay away from. Have an Andechs if you can, otherwise a Paulaner or Erdinger weiss is a far better choice

I first enjoyed the taste of this wonderful Weissbier when I stayed with a family in Munich. It goes great with a weisswurst, which is a Baverian sausage. I was thrilled to find out it was sold in America. It has a smoothe, fuity taste to it that can be relished from beginning to end. I highly recommend this beer to anyone looking for something new or for anyone that enjoys weissbier.

My 2nd favorite wheat bear after Hoegaarden. Very good! I prefer the Dunkel (dark) version, without lemon.

I discovered this beer at a biergarten in Munich and took an immediate liking to it. Thankfully, my wife cooks great jagerschnitzel and I can get this beer locally. It's different, especially if you're used to the "Miller Lites" of the world, but it's a very satisfying beer.

I got turned on to drinking this beer by a german restaurant in my local mall! Now I'm picking it up at a semi-local special distrib (dang PA laws). This is by far my favorite brew with Yuengling Lager a close second. I only end up drinking more Lager cuz it's cheaper. Some people can't get past the "fruity or banana" taste. I always suggest a lemon if that's their reaction. Somehow, the lemon just seems to smooth and mellow it out. I drink and like it both ways. It's also one of the few beers I enjoy just as much a little less than cold. . Get your hand around one of these and you won't put it down. .plus the monk on the bottle is just cool :)

Absolutely a great beer, one of the best. However unlike a previous opinion stated I do suggest you add a lemon, as it was meant to be drunk.

Wheat beer, weizen bier, weissbier, all the same name, but each brand produces its own unique work of art. Weissbier is an acquired taste due to its "banana" twang, but those who try it will agree, it is truly a wonderful thing. Never put a lemon in it and make sure you get it in the .5 Liter glass. Franziskaner makes one of the best Weissbiers in Germany. The only bad thing is that pouring the beer is important. Make sure to get all the "floaties" from the bottle by swirling the last bit and dumping it in. This is the extra flavor that Weisbier is known for.
