I would like to describe my experience on Midwest Express on 6/6/08. I traveled with my wife to Las Vegas on flight 815. At about 6:30 am, I check the flight status and found the flight that was scheduled to depart at 9:30 a.m. was delayed until 3:45. I called to see what I was suppose to do and after being on hold for 10 minutes a representative answered and confirmed that the flight was delayed and since it was such a long delay, she would put me back on hold and find out what was causing the delay. When she returned, she said she had called the airport and the delay was due a mechanical problem with the plane. She suggested I call back in a while to make sure the flight doesnt get re-scheduled to leave earlier.

When I called back at 8:30 the representative said they were waiting for a part to fix the plane. She told me that the flight was still scheduled to depart at 3:45, but she said she couldnt tell me for sure when the flight would depart and I was expected to be at the airport at the regular scheduled departure time. She said a replacement plane might be brought in from somewhere else.

I ended up going to the airport at 9:00. When I went to the desk to inquire about the flight, I was surprised to find out that the representatives were telling people the delay was due to weather conditions from the previous day. Not only was I already told that the delay was due to mechanical problems, but it didnt make any sense that weather from the previous day was delaying a 9:30 flight by more than 6 hours when most other flights were on time. The earlier flight to Vegas left on time and so did the 4:15 flight, which left before our 9:30 am flight. It also does not make sense to me that supposedly we had to wait for the 7:30 a.m. plane to fly to Vegas and return to get us because the original plane was not available.

By the time the plane arrived, around 3:30 we were having weather problems in Milwaukee, so the plane was delayed further and finally departed about 5:00 p.m. We arrived in Vegas around 7:00 p.m.

The biggest problem for me is that I am on my way to Vegas a couple days in advance of a business meeting and rented a car to drive to the Grand Canyon today and booked a room at the Grand Canyon Lodge. The room can only be canceled 48 hours in advance, so it is too late for that. If I try to drive there tonight, by time I get the rental car and get on the road, I will be driving through the desert until probably 1:00 a.m. Needless to say, I had to cancel our plans to see the Grand Canyon and book a different room in Vegas. Luckily I did find a room in Vegas. I will go get the rental car, although I dont need it on Friday, because I pre-paid for it. We dropped our dog off at a kennel on Thursday night because of our morning flight, so we paid for an extra day, which turned out to be a waste of money.

Since 911 all air travel has gone down hill. Midwest has slipped the most and lost almost all of the extraordinary qualities it had prior to that event. Now, it is only somewhat better than the average airline and I still prefer it. It used to be so nice. (sigh*)

I flew on Midwest from Kansas City to New York City, in August....flights were significantly delayed each way. My wife & I flew KC-Milwaukee-Cleveland....my seat was also assigned to someone else but they got that straightened out on the plane; but the return Cleveland to Milwaukee was cancelled, and rerouted thru Continental. No apologies from Midwest at all and it was handled kind of sloppily, as far as getting our tickets for Continental, etc.

People have generally been pretty polite, and the free cookies are nice, as well as the wider than average seats. Still a lot of "kinks" for this airline to work out, though, I'm not sure if we'd fly with them again or not.

We flew Midwest Connect airline for the first time and it was the worst experience I have ever endured with an airline. The cabin was extremely cold. Passengers were complaining about the cold and the flight attendant explained that "It was cold outside." We were crusing at 30,000 feet of course it was cold outside. The flight left Milwaukee about 2 1/2 hours late and when we arrived in Nashville we were told that they "forgot to put the luggage on the plane." Everyone that I saw was very civil to the people taking the "Delayed Baggage Reports" and we were told that the luggage would be delivered by 11:00 AM the next morning. Needless to say, it is mid afternoon and there is still no luggage. When I called Midwest to ask about the luggage I also asked about reimbursement for the misc. toiletry items my wife and I had to spend because items that we did not have duplicates at home we needed to buy and were told that they do not reimburse you for anything if it is your home town. They advertise "Best Care in the Air", but it was truly our worst care and will never fly with them again!

A good airline... Flown them many times from KC-DC, SFO-KC, KC-Milwaukee... I love the all business class seating and the service is good...plus they give you a warm homemade(?) chocolate chip cookie on almost every flight.

SIGNATURE flights get 2x2 wide leather seating in coach. SAVER flights get the usual 2x3 seating on MD-80s. Their Milwaukee and Kansas City hubs are very user-friendly and employees are friendly. Midwest offers buy-on-board food and baked chocolate chip cookies on some longer flights.

I've never flown Midwest Airlines until April of '04. I was impressed and shocked with the service. I never expected the airline to be as great as I've heard. Infact, until recently I never was aware that the airline served full meals on real china and so forth. Sadly, I never experienced that, but what I did experience was excellent. Infact, I even applied for a job right after I flew it, and now I work in Reservations at Headquarters in Milwaukee. I must say, everyone adores their job, I've never seen so many people happy with their career. The environment is exciting. Believe me, everyone misses the meals, as from what I notice, but there is a rumor about bringing some portions back to atleast the Signature Service. Rumors :) but we can only hope. The BEST Care in the Air.

My wife and I were very happy with our first experience on Midwest Express. There really is more leg room and the seats are wider. The food was good and the cookies were great. We plan to fly Midwest Express in the future.
