Absolutely no reason for him to be on the show except as a foil
to Woody. He's more anger and emotion than substance. His
columns, though well-written, do not translate to someone that
I want to see on television. I enjoy ATH when JM is not on the show.

I hate Mariotti so much, I wish I could give him a zero. Stat Boy also sucks, the only good part of Around the Horn, is when Reali says, Mariotti bringing up the rear!! BTW, Jay I like your new eyebrows, keep tweezing them, so you can look like Pamela Anderson, you are such a big boob. ESPN has to bring back Max Kellerman, he was awesome on ATH and Boxing. Stuart Scott ruined Sportscenter for me, I hate him more than everyone else combined.

Jay Mariotti is such a pathetic excuse for a journalist. I feel that his writing lacks the most basic the basic factual foundation necessary to be credible. Its time people start holding the newspapers accountable by canceling their subscription to the Chicago Sun Times.

Jay Mariotti is an absolutely dreadful personality, but he gets a 2 from me only because he provides fodder for Paige and the other columnists on the show.

This phony jerk trashed the ChiSox all season in order to get people to read his column. He destroyed his credibility and proved his incompetency as a sportswriter when the Sox swept the World Series. He's the real "choker" and if the SunTimes were a quality paper, it would replace him with a quality journalist who inspires thought instead of spewing trash.

Im posting this comment to inform VAG that marriotti is not from chicago, at least i hope not. I dont like mariotti because in spring training he said the sox were only going to win 84 games and the cubs were going to win 85 games. he also was all over the whole choke epidema previous sox teams suffered from. I would give Jay Mariotti zero stars if I could. He is an arrogant self important a$$. I am amazed that ESPN continues to employ him in various lives. It is particularly annoying when he guest hosts on PTI....one of my favorite programs.....I will not watch it when he sits in. One of the things that come through with this guy is you get the impression his peers don't like him either.

The guy is the biggest jerk on TV. He makes Vitale seem normal. He is arrogant, ignorant...and those are his good qualities. He replace The Freak on the radio sports network and it was off the air within 6 months. He is biggest a$$ involved with sports media.

Jay has to be one of the BEST sports writers ever! He is absoloutly fabulous on Around The Horn and he knows his sports very well.

I was very dissappointed the first morning that I turned on my radio and found Jay Mariotti was no longer broadcasting. After all these years, Jay Mariotti is still a breath of fresh air. He is articulate and engaging. Too bad the people of Chicago can't brook hearing the truth. This truly is the city of weak shoulders. Any writer or sports personality who calculates an athletes overall rating or merrit by how they treat the media is weak. Jay is typical of todays sports writers who make the cover story from how the event is covered by the media top billing, not the story itself.

Glad he's off the radio now if we could work him off the newspaper too. While overall, very knowledgable he never connected with Chicago fans and works too much of a shock-jock angle for me.

Jay Mariotti is a terrible representation of the City of Chicago. All of his work is done to showcase all the bad things that happen. God forbid you try to catch a baseball at a game, he will drag your name through the mud for as long as he is allowed to be part of the media. let me say this. i'm a big jay mariotti fan. however, i was frustrated and resentful of his lame column concerning unhealthy Duke-Bashing which he wrote a few days before the Duke-Illini game. I couldn't put my finger on why I had such negative feelings about his column until watching the duke-illini debacle. But, Eureka, the game was only a few minutes old before I realized why most reasonable people hate duke. They get big time favored by the refs. The refs took illini out of the game within the first 8 minutes by making numerous phantom foul calls which totally left the illini neurotic and with zero confidence since they couldn't play their game. How quickly Duke was shooting free throws. ( one in one). The refs must have realized they were blowing the game and tried to equalize by calling phantom calls on Duke soon after. but alas, what's done is done. the illini were taking out of their game because of the biased officiating which follows duke. can you say, sixth and seventh men on the floor. same can be said about the officiating in the duke-xavier game and the duke-connecticut. in both of these games, duke's oppenent's stud player was in foul trouble and minimized. okafor only playing 3 minutes of the first half. come on!!! poor krezeski, he was counting on biased officiating so bad, he designed a play for his best free throw shooter (reddick) to drive the lane, assured that the officials would blow the whistle against connecticut with only a few seconds left. no mike, the officials didn't find a phantom call to make to send the 2nd best free throw shooter in the country to the charity stripe. sure mike screamed his head off, such entitlement. not this time krezcheski (or however you spell it). sorry buddy, you lost the national championship game that nite. yes jay, that's why reasonable fans hate duke. 1) biased officating, 2) patronizing announcers who drool over duke. john
