I wouldn't go so far as to hype this film (along with Titanic) as one of the best dramatic movies of all time as one previous reviewer did, but there's no denying the emotional impact of this particular scene.

Sorry...a soap opera by any other name, is a soap opera all the same. When this movie won the Oscar, I realized that the Academy Awards had lost any marginal credibility they might have still had left.

The most touching scene for me was when she told her angry son to not feel guilty later, because although he couldn't express it then, she knew he loved her. That to me would be the worst part of dying in the near future, trying to explain it to my young children.

Regardless of whether someone likes this movie or not, it is hard to deny the fact that this is one of the saddest scenes in all of movie history...a true tear jerker that I enjoy watching over and over again. Terms of Endearment is right up there with Titanic as being one of the best dramatic movies of all time....Debra Winger and Shirley McClaine did outstanding performances...
