Kudos to whichever network had the nads to back this mini-series. It gave white Americans a glimpse of what Black Americans had to endure from the Slave ships all the way to the modern era. In spite of much of the story being pure conjecture it was a well written story and made the careers of many of the actors. Levar Burton is the one that sticks in my mind. He did an awesome job in this series. Based on Alex Haily's book of the same title.

one of the best of mini series. every episode was worth watching. terrific talented cast. starts out with Kunta Kinte who was taken from his home in Africa and forced to be a slave in the south. shows each generation what happened to them and ends when the slaves are freed after the war. very good watched every episode and would love to watch again. gives a good example of how awful it must have been for the slaves and their families.

One of the best. I enjoyed it and re watched it a few weeks ago for the 3rd time. Still enjoyable with fine characterization> number of fine black actors got a start or a boost from this series.

Few mini-series have done so much to educate us.
