Excellent story and acting

I liked this series and think Chamberland was just fine in the lead role. The camera work is first class throughout the series and the Japanese cast suberb.

A well done series about an English sailor marooned in Japan at a time when no Westerners were permitted. I thought Richard Chamberlain was pretty good in the lead role even though there would be a huge number of British actors willing to play the part. I don't remember the exact era but I would guess it was the late 1800's.

Very good, in spots, despite the ridiculous mis-casting of Chamberlain in the lead role.

A bit undisciplined and could have used tighter editing.
