I can't believe anyone actually spent money to see this turkey after seeing the previews. I guess they weren't really paying attention.

I'd be emotional if it were anywhere resembling the truth. The only thing moving at this moment of the film was the ship. That and the love story made me quite nauseous througout.

I have more sympathy for the Max Rebo band for being killed when Jabba's barge blew up...

Coming from someone that laughed and cheered when the frozen Leonardo sunk to the bottom of the sea, this is going to sound out of character for me.

But I found this part the most touching (besides the old couple and children that remained in bed to die). I will tell you why;

They say music calms the savage beast. That also is true in humans. There were people back in the day with a lot of pride in what they did. It was the musical equivalent of the captain going down with the ship. If they can't live, they will go down doing what their passion is. Playing music for themselves and others. They realized that if they did get a life boat, other people would not and they nobly figured out that if their music ever had a purpose, if it ever had meaning, it would be right there and then. We need more pride like that in these times.

If it wasn't for that poopsicle slowly sinking into the ocean as a form of comic relief, this movie would have been such a bummer. :P

Remember this is what I think. I am not putting down what you think. If you think the music part was stupid and the guy drowning was sad, I can understand that.

It's hard enough to find one moribund person...let alone THREE...all in one place at one time...resigned to death with all vitality drained from them. This was about as realistic as some broad throwing a gazillion dollar rock into the ocean.

I can't help but think that Cameron was asleep on this one and missed his big, BIG chance at true greatness and imortality . What the film needed was a little comic relief, like CGI'ing Larry, Moe and Curly...aloof to their environment...playing away as they slide down the wet deck. Of course, on the way, Larry's violin bow would snag the wig off some guy and Curly would end up with his face buried in the generous bosom of some uppity British patron, who would have been more shocked by that than the sinking of the ship.

For the finale, instead of watching Leo's frozen corpse sink into the depths, we COULD have been treated to this:

Cameron? If you're listening, we're giving you a chance for a do-over.

I think the Musician's Union filed a protest about this. Why did the band have to wait until all the lifeboats were gone, sez the union boss.

Now, ok... I don't get this at all. For this to have been an actual event in history, this scene doesnt seem realistic at all in my opinion. The damn ship is sinking and people are freaking out, normal reaction in my opinion, but what the hell were the bands intentions? Did they think they could somehow calm the panic of the ship with the sounds of their instruments? They shoulda saw the fact that people were terrified and trying to get into rescue boats and jumping of the ship in panic, and put them damn violins away. They shoulda been among those that tried to get on one of those rescue boats, then maybe they could've played tunes for those folks those. No one on that ship gave a rats ass about some violin music and a band playing as the ship was sinking. And I doubt I would either.

As unreasonable as the scene may strike us, the moment has long been duly documented. On the other hand, as factual as the scene may be, the movie is cloying, particularly in casting a nebbish-looking De Caprio against a fully mature female specimen like Kate Winslet. In the movie, her character acknowledges that she owes her transformation into a liberated spirit to having learned about unconventionality from the De Caprio character, saying something to the effect that he "taught" her "so much". I don't know what director James Cameron had in mind by this assertion - or whether a certain scene was left in the cutting floor - but, from what I recall, the only scene in which De Caprio actually teaches her character anything was the one where they spend time spitting off the ship's railing.

And the band played on....even during the chaotic crises. Very good spot in the film. I don't know why people laugh at this movie. I think it is good. I like the story line, the imagery, the clothes, the score, all of it. Its a good movie.

One of the few good parts of this long drawn out distortion of history. When the band started to play it woke you up and you knew it was almost over.

I didn't find this sad at all I thought it was plain stupid. Tell me what human being in their right mind is going to stay to entertain on a sinking ship in the middle of the Atlantic whilst people are screaming and running for their lives to the nearest life boat?

I rated this four because it was an emotional moment, but it was like the only one in the whole film. Or perhaps mabye Mr. Andrews going down with the ship. The supporting parts were, for the most part done well, but the main storyline had no effect on me emotionally.

This was pretty sad. They obviously knew they weren't going to live and they were trying to provide the last bit of comfort that they possibly could.

I actually thought this part was cheesy. There were plenty of more poignant moments, and I thought this was too obviously tear-jerking. All it made me think about was, Hey...That one guy might be able to float on his cello!

I thought the entire sinking of the Titanic was emotional. Not so much the main characters in their desperate rush to find each other, but the ambience, the minor characters acceptance or unwillingness to die.

This is a movie one either likes or doesn't like. There doesn't seem to be an in between I rarely meet a person that says it was ok I liked the movie a lot. I was emotionally moved watching the ship sink, which was the best part. It would be ignorant for there to be a twist ending, yes we know the ship is going to sink because it really did happen.

I have that song on a tape. I love Titanic. And I think the band added to it. It was supposed to provide a peaceful atmosphere. But it really didn't work. With everybody running around and screaming like that, who's gonna hear anyway right?
