Good song, but the GNR version is much better.

I regard this one as the best McCartney post-Beatles hit. I get sick of a lot of overplayed stuff easily, but it's hard to get tired of this one: good strings, fine lyrics and vocals, a quirky reggae influenced section, and just a fiery, inspired, rollicking performance overall, the type of song that creates images in your head. For some reason or other the effect of this tune mirrors "Helter Skelter" in a way, they have something in common that I can't quite put my finger on.

Released under the artist name, Paul McCartney and Wings, "Live And Let Die" was the title song for the eighth James Bond movie (1973). The track is one of the harder, faster paced, and rock oriented theme songs of the Bond franchise and remains a favorite, no surprise from McCartney/Wings (and producer George Martin to boot). This harder sound would also explain why this song has been such a popular cover (e.g. Guns 'N Roses, Chrissie Hynde, Lizzy Borden, the Ventures, and Shirley Bassey (who sang three Bond themes herself)). "Live And Let Die" was also the last male lead vocal for a Bond theme song until Duran Duran's "A View To A Kill" which was probably as it should have been. Anyway, the song worked well as a main theme and throughout the film during the chase scenes. "Live And Let Die" charted in the U.S. for 12 weeks in 1973, peaking at #2.

Live & Let Die is the best Bond Theme song ever (Goldfinger comes in second). By far, it is Paul's ballsiest song from his post-Beatles era. It was a perfect choice for his finale performance in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Best bond theme tune of all time and it is just a great song. Paul should do more movie sound tracks I thing he would do a great job. I think the last one he did was spies like us, which was not as memorable.

sounds more like a Bond Theme(it was) than your typical run of the mill Macca song. not one of my favorites.
