The best buffet restaurant

In my opinion, buffet restaurants are probably the only kind of dining establishment allowed in Hell, so they lose a bunch of stars for that. The two I've been in were similar in having mediocre selections of overwarmed food in a slightly grungy atmosphere. I won't be back.

service is terrible, but then they don't get treated very good at all. The food just sits there for hours it seems till it is way too old and crusty to even think about eating.

My family and I have gone there but it's nothing to brag about. I'm beginning to be terrified of these buffet style places. It's like they're a cesspool of germs. My daughter ended up in the hospital for like 4 days with rotavirus after we ate at a restaurant. It wasn't a Ryan's but it made me hesitant about all places. My biggest problem with Ryan's isn't even the food. I can't stand the fact that alot of them aren't kept very clean anymore and the whole place smells like their restrooms. That's not very appetizing. Plus after sitting down and eating a meal at one location the hugest cockroach I've ever seen just took a stroll across the floor as if he'd been there all his life. I almost vomited right there at the table and quickly got out of there.

Great place, would get a 5 if the lines weren't always so long.

REPULSIVE! VILE! If this were the ONLY place to go for food other than my house I would eat at home for the rest of my life! More than once I visited Ryan's in seperate cities and was repulsed by the conditions around the buffett. Food that had been out WAY too long. Food that had been mixed by patrons who had no regard for the rest of us there to eat. Wait staff that were too busy to be bothered by doing their jobs. Management staff too busy doing the wait staff to be bothered with thier jobs. ( and yes I mean that literally) Take my advise and just don't bother

After watching a sick child blow phlegm and snot all over the dessert bar, I swore to NEVER, NEVER again eat at Ryan's or any other buffet style restaurant.

Worked at Ryan's many years ago and am scarred for life by what I saw...Never eat at a Ryan's for your own sake.

My rating addresses the Ryans at Tyler, Texas. Since this is a buffet style restaurant, the issue of service is virtually moot, exccept to say that those who oversee the timely refilling of available selections on the buffet are both vigilant and efficient. The atmosphere is fairly typical of any similar restaurant, but the serving tables are logically and aesthetically arranged. When one considers what it would cost him to prepare for himself a full meal of the types found in Ryans, in terms of time, groceries, utilites, and so forth, the price of the meal is a bargain in spades. The food itself is tasteful and hot and fresh, and while it might not come to the table wearing the attire prepared for it by a cordon bleu chef, I submit that one should be pleased with his food not entertained by it. All in all, should one be travelling through Tyler, Texas and happen to find themselves on Broadway, do yourself and your family a favor and try Ryan's.

The worst buffet I've ever been to. I think the food at a school cafeteria is better.

Line up at the trough. Stretch pants and mottled cottage cheese bulges provided free of charge.

One of the worst buffets in the business.

Ryan's is not much different than Denny's, or even Perkin's for that matter. It really all depends on which one you visit if you are going to have a good or bad experience. If I had to rate the whole group of Ryan's I have been to, I would have to say they are just a 3...

A restaurant we used to eat in when we lived down South. Alot of food. You order a steak and then it's all-you-can-eat at the buffet. Bad thing is you really don't need to order a steak cuz you're usually full by the time it arrives. The buffet has the usual items you find on a buffet, some better than others. Alot of home cooking Southern items. My girlfriend and I always talk about the stewed tomatoes and okra we used to eat at Ryans.

Great Buffet Selection with Good Steaks and Chicken!

A friend of mine once wisely said something about this place: "You could bring a blind man in there and feed him fish, beef, and chicken and he wouldn't be able to tell the difference." Buffet or no buffet there are way too many better (good) places to spend your money. I always stay away from Ryan's.

A+++. Where else (outside of Las Vegas and Goden Corral) can you get an all you can eat buffet with steak for under $10. The Ryan's is Hermatage, TN is fantastic due to the culinary skills of Danny. Look for him next time you go there!

The ones near me are nasty and dirty. The food is badly prepared and looks about as bad as it tastes. There is a new one across town, but we are hesitant to give it a shot.

The All You Can Eat part is good, and the food is OK sometimes, but most of the time, it stinks.

UPDATE!!!!!! I just went to the new Ryan's in south side of Parkersburg and they were much more impressive than the one in marietta! I like the fact they have steak every day! also they have a better concept so far as layout and design of the building. I found it kinda interesting! The only complaint I had was the dryness of the meat... it was a tad too dry but the steak tasted great but not as juicy as ponderosa's. My mom did not like the bread pudding as good as the one in marietta. it was too hard for her to even put on her plate. It was sure busy that day and they were good in keeping us refilled with our drinks... they could have had bus boys doing the table clearing and the more waitresses on the floor with orders and such. This one had more cold foods then warm foods and had more salady things. It also had more different selections then the one in marietta I love the vareity there and it's just under 9 buckaroos! not bad considering most of these places only give you a little meal for 10bucks or more. the atmo-sphere is ok, but could get crowded at times, espaccaily 'round the holidays and mother's and grand-parents day. one time we wated almost 2 hours to get seated and it was really crowded and I got sick from all the crowds so I went back in the car and listened to the radio.the next time we were there wasn't too bad, just the sunday dinner crowd, not too bad. and their food is good too. I like thier mashed potaoes and thier roast beef and turkey. Thier chicken is good too. I always get several plates of food thier because thier mega bar is all you can eat so I always fill myself to the brim. For my family (about 5-7 people) would top off to be around $45-60. I like eating there and it's a good value. Thier are second in this class topped by USA STEAKS. USA steaks does have the drinks included and they are about $10-15 cheaper. I'd say I'd give them 4.7 stars. Rating improves some!

I would really give Ryan's about a 3.5. our family goes there on occasion. We like the idea of the mega bar where for one price, all the food is included including desert. Beverages is extra. The food is okay to good. We like to go there when we can be sure it is not too crowded. I guess the annoying part of going to restauarnts where they have the meal bars is hoping to staff keeps on top of keeping the food bins filled. I do not like it when one is empty or almost empty and I have to keep checking to see it the food is back. The other thing I do not like is when it is too crowded and having to wait in line too long to fill my plate. I guess if you are not looking for great food Ryan's is okay .

Ryan's is ok but sometimes the food sucks.
